Being in television, there's always the chance you're working a holiday, because, unless you're in the office, we're at work. Usually, I end up having to work on Christmas, because I'm low on the totem pole. It sucks, But it could be worse. I honestly think it's much worse working in retail, because the day before and the day after, you're expected to be there, and there's no holiday pay for that. Plus, I'm getting a good payday out of this, it's mostly quiet around here, and I was able to work it out so that I could see my family just before Christmas. So, it could be worse, but I always like having this day off more than not.

I did. It was okay actually. We get paid double on holidays and there weren't many calls (yeah, I work in customer services) so I didn't actually have much work to do, and it gave me time to do some drawing!
Plus, because it's one of the shorter shifts, I still got to have Christmas dinner with my parents.

Don't celebrate Christmas or any holiday really so I would always volunteer to work, time and a half or not. My jobs for the past few years always had holidays off, sometimes paid. Back in the day I hated places being closed for a holiday as it often meant losing a day of pay. If I worked in a job that lost out on a day of business because of a holiday they sure werent going to wreck their payroll by working everyone their full hours.

At the grocery store I work at we had to write our names on a clipboard in the front if we wanted to work on Christmas day. I didn't sign it, so I had off (Good thing too, the past few days have been a zoo and a half in regards to customers), but I still get a few holiday hours worth of pay due to the holiday.
I don't think I've ever worked Christmas day, purely out of luck, but the clipboard thing was new.
I've done it. I work hospital security, and the place is absolutely dead. We get double time and a half while we're working which means basically we get paid what we probably actually should get paid for the nonsense we deal with.

I used to deliver newspapers, it was decent money. I loved going out Christmas Eve, I would always deliver the paper in a Santa hat. Maybe it made some kids day, then I would go home open presents with the family and sleep most of the afternoon when the in laws were over. Plus Christmas was amazing time with all the Christmas tips coming in . It was a pretty good couple of years.
After my divorce, I worked at an animal shelter, while we weren’t open to the public on Christmas, the animals still needed to be eat and have their kennels cleaned. Dogs and cats really don’t care about the holiday. It was always layed back, and I had bunch of great coworkers, we would exchange gifts and eat all the candy and food people gifted the staff. It also got me out the house while my kid spent Christmas morning with his mom doing the whole presents under the tree thing. After that I would pick him up and take him to Chinese food and a movie which is the best way to spend Christmas.

This the first time in 6 years that I've been off on Chrstmas and the first time I've had both Chritmas and New Years fall on my off days. It almost feels weird. But that also means I'm missing out on the Holliday pay.
