Now I'm imaging Kane with dementia, I'm sure wwe would handle such a story tastefully.

Fans boo Kane because he reduced one of WWE's brightest new stars of the last decade - and the inaugural Universal champion - to Main Event - level status. Balor definitely shouldn’t have lost to Kane, but the idea that he’s dropped THAT far down the pecking order is highly melodramatic. It's not melodramatic - it's a reality mitigated only by the fact that Balor still moves a shit-ton of merchandise and remains one of WWE's top draws for house shows. He's not booked anywhere near the main event scene and has not had any of his programs resolved definitively. They've done this before - with Bret Hart. In both cases, they know what they have, but don't want to book them at the top of the card: Bret for the sake of Shawn, Finn for the sake of Roman.

As in the show that the US doesn’t even get to see for three weeks because of red tape with the UK broadcast contract? And that only like five people watch, mostly for statistical purposes? I might just have a different perspective on all these things because I spend so much time with my head buried in the numbers of this stuff (Fun fact by the way... Balor both won more matches and lost less matches on TV this year than Reigns did), but I just have a hard time seeing Balor being on the same credibility level as the likes of Curt Hawkins and Curtis Axel just because of one bad loss.

It was a loss that cemented for many fans the idea that Finn just isn't the man WWE wants at the top; as much as we would like to think that WWE listens to its audience, they don't. Kane was a big old nail in the coffin; even the commentary during that match questioned Finn's fitness to face him. Its occurrence after a dropped feud with Bray Wyatt and a lackluster showing at the Survivor Series had all the markings of a burial. To throw you a bone and justify your policing the fervour of my opinion that Finn's at _Main Event_ levels of credibility, I will walk it back a bit and suggest that it's not quite that bad. It _is_ bad enough, however, that Finn will start thinking hard when New Japan or, hell, even Impact start knocking on Finn's door with the kinds of offers he can't really refuse - things like full creative control over his character, or in NJPW's case, residuals from everything to do with Bullet Club. Finn can have WWE by the short and curlies in a huge way if he really wanted. WWE's squandering of its talent through BS booking such as we saw with Kane will come at tremendous cost to the company.
