Ring of Honor “Final Battle 2007”
December 30th, 2007
From the Manhattan Center in New York, New York
Commentators: Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard
Austin Aries is upset because of his loss the previous night.
Rebecca Bayless is backstage with the Briscoes. They’re defending the Tag Team Titles tonight against the Age of the Fall and they’re going to do whatever it takes to win.
Bobby Fish & Matt Cross vs. the Vulture Squad w/Julius Smokes
This wasn’t too bad but I wanted to slap Julius Smokes to keep him from doing vulture calls every ten seconds. He was cool with Homicide. Not tonight.
Winners: Vulture Squad
Larry Sweeney and Sweet N’ Sour Inc. come out to rile up the crowd. He introduces Daniel Puder (yes, the guy from Tough Enough Season Four) as the newest member of Sweet N’ Sour Inc. and informs everyone that Daniel Puder broke Claudio Castagnolis leg last night so his (Sweeney's) match against Castagnoli is off tonight. Claudio comes out and struggles through a promo telling Larry their match is happening tonight no matter what.
Larry Sweeney w/Sweet N’ Sour Inc. vs. Claudio Castagnoli
This match sucked. It was your typical “hurt face against a dirty, cheating heel faction” match.
Winner: Larry Sweeney
After the match Tank Tolland keeps beating Castagnoli up but Claudio gets himself out of it.
Backstage Sweet N’ Sour Inc. celebrate their victory. Chris Hero promises to keep it going.
No Disqualifications
Jack Evans w/Julius Smokes vs. Necro Butcher w/Lacey
This match actually scared me a bit because I watched a lot of Jack Evans’ earlier work in the last few months and he pretty much almost died at least once in every match. And those were mostly “normal” matches. I couldn’t imagine what Necro Butcher would do to him in a No Disqualifications match, let alone do to himself. There were quite a few times Evans got destroyed and probably should’ve have gotten back up but it wasn’t as bad as I worried it would be. It was entertaining but it had a really weak ending.
Winner: Jack Evans
Davey Richards vs. Naomichi Marufuji
This took a while to get going but once it got going the going was good. It could’ve been a few minutes longer.
Winner: Naomichi Marufuji
Rebecca Bayless is in the basement with the Age of the Fall. They say they’re going to get the power they deserve tonight.
Tables are Legal
The Hangman 3 w/Shane Hagadorn vs. El Generico, Kevin Steen & Delirious
This was a fun hardcore brawl. As the title states; tables were legal but it wasn’t a “tables matches”. Everyone went through a table at some point and looks like they got hurt. Brent Albright looks like his name should be Vinnie. The only weak link was Delirious, who didn’t do much until the end.
Winners: the Hangman 3
During intermission Becky Bayless caught up with the Hangman 3. Adam Pierce can’t wait for his upcoming Dog Collar Match against Delirious.
Ernie Osiris vs. Rocky Romero
This lasted as long as it took you to read this.
Winner: Rocky Romero
Nigel McGuinness comes out and explains that he suffered a serious concussion the night before. He’s unable to defend the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship tonight and debates dropping the title altogether. He doesn’t and he seems really pissed off at one guy in the crowd.
For the Full Impact Pro World Heavyweight Championship
Erick Stevens vs. Roderick Strong (champion)
Full Impact Pro came up on my random DVD picker tonight but I watched one of their shows last night and it bored the hell out of me. So even seeing that title defended on another federations show caused me to tune out of this match. I probably should have paid attention to this one because when I did tune back in it looked pretty good.
Winner: Erick Stevens (new Full Impact Pro World Heavyweight Champion)
4-Way Elimination Match for a shot at the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship at the Sixth Anniversary Show in March
Chris Hero w/Sweet and Sour Inc. vs. Austin Aries vs. Brian Danielson vs. Takeshi Morishima
It was funny at the beginning of this match when Chris Hero was making fun of a guy in Sweet and Sour Inc. named Bobby Dempsey for being fat...
...”Fat Hero”...
This was another really good match. I can’t say much more than that. Everyone looked good, even “Big Baby”.
Winner: Brian Danielson (new number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship)
Erick Stevenson is backstage and says all his hard work has paid off.
For the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships
The Age of the Fall w/Lacey vs. the Briscoes (champions) w/Daizee Haze
With this being a pretty intense blood feud and the biggest show of the year (and the defacto main event) I think they should’ve gone a bit more “all out” than a normal wrestling match here. They still went all out though. The Doomsday Device onto the ring apron was pretty nasty. Would you believe me if I told you Jimmy Jacobs may have taken the lightest beating in this match?
Winners: the Age of the Fall (new Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions)

This was a really good show. Definitely one of the better Ring of Honor DVDs I have. It started out a bit slow but from the Jack Evans verses Necro Butcher match onwards I was really entertained. I believe the main event of this show was supposed to be Nigel McGuinness defending the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship against Chris Hero, Brian Danielson and Takeshi Morishima but the concussion he suffered the night before cancelled that match.
The Age of the Fall had the worst entrance music I’ve ever heard. It’s just a loop of a girl screaming her head off.
