Here's a few of the other heels they had working the PPV he returned at:
Kane Lesnar The Dudleyz Kevin Owens Bray Wyatt
With the exception of Wyatt, whom it could be argued played to the audience a bit at times with the cult leader deal, none of those other guys strike me as the kind that were too concerned with being hip and cool on Twitter.

Could a 2016 WWE title run work though? Del Rio vs. Styles? Del Rio vs. Balor? maybe - he was always a great wrestler.......but man alive, did they make him boring as hell

Never thought he was good at anything. Never impressed me in ring. Not as Dos Caras Jr. Del Rio, El Patron, never got the appeal. Dudes the most useless "top talent" WWE has pushed in my lifetime.

Del Rio being the pay off of the United States open challenge is just another big pile to disappointing pay offs involving Del Rio and just disappointing pay offs in WWE in general

I completely agree with this. He was probably the biggest waste of a main event push. And that ain't no easy feat

Del Rio was always a guy where he always looked good on paper. Good look, ring general and he can talk. But even with all the right pieces he could never quite get it together, even before his personal issues took over.

I'm glad Berto is seemingly in a better place (and Paige). I've been there before with someone, some people can really bring out the worst in each other, and I'm just glad it didn't end in tears.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I buy that League of Nations stuff. Sheamus, Rusev and Barrett looked like they were having a hell of a time, it was only ADR who looked disinterested in the whole thing.

I still think a self-obsessed Telenovela character would be money.
