If Jinder wins, whatever. The US Championship level is actually perfect for him to be in at this point. Yeah, that’s the level he should have started from if they were set for this world title push long term. Having the character win the US title first seemed logical but I guess doing it now is fine.

Jinder's winning this purely because I think they'll want a heel champion holding that title given I think Styles is holding his belt until WM. Just just any heel, a specific type of heel so we can get a certain super patriot in the title picture. Cena beating Jinder for a title at Wrestlemania has been my thought for months, I think I was just wrong about which title it would be. It's possible, hell I've even heard rumors that Cena might win the Rumble and set up another Styles/Cena match at WM. Who knows.

So who could possibly be in the other half of the bracket? I'd assume Orton, Nakamura, Owens and Zayn are above it, so in terms of singles guys we're kinda left with Rawley, Ryder, Sin Cara and Kanellis?

If its brackets then that's a Roode/Jinder semi final right? They can't meet in the final? (I assume that'll be at the rumble). As the tag titles are unlikely to be defended at the rumble (two rumbles mean a hit for the undercard, plus it reduces the number of wrestlers doing double duty which I've never been a fan of) that frees up a lot of talent and in the other bracket you could have Kofi/Gable, Big E/Rusev, Shelton/Harper just off the top of my head. You could even have something like Xavier/Kofi or Gable/Shelton to put the cat among the pigeons.

This is assuming that it's going to be an 8 man tournament and not a 4 man, though (in which case, Jinder/Roode is already the final).

Dude wins the belt then throws it on the ground, GM announces a tournament for it only for everyone to ignore it and instead start talking about the tag titles, then they can't even be assed to actually announce who's in the tournament for it. This belt is a joke.
Honestly I'd for real just nullify the US title by now and introduce a new belt - even if it's only to go the lazy route and have a SmackDown Intercontinental one. If only because then that'd kill the tired as hell, "Foreign heel wins the belt, covers himself in red, white, and blue," gimmick with it.
