Ring of Honor “Fifth Year Festival: NYC”
February 16th, 2007
From the Manhattan Center in New York City, New York
Commentators: Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard
Rebecca Bayless welcomes the crowd waiting outside to the show. Tonight Homicide defends the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship against Jimmy Rave.
Jimmy Rave says his journey comes to an end tonight when he wins the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship.
Pelle Primeau comes out and issues an open challenge to anyone backstage. Samoa Joes music plays but Takeshi Morishima comes out instead.
Pelle Primeau vs. Takeshi Morishima
This last a suplex.
Winner: Takeshi Morishima
Takeshi Morishima calls Samoa Joe out but Nigel McGuinness comes out and tells him not yet or something.
Adam Pearce and Shane Hagadorn come out and slap Pelle Primeaus carcass around. Then Delirious comes out.
Adam Pearce w/Shane Hagadorn vs. Delicious
This was okay and thankfully not too long.
Winner: Delirious
Christopher Daniels is upset that people think Ring of Honor is a two team Tag Team division. But he and Matt Sydal are going to prove everyone wrong.
SHIMMER Special Attraction
Daizee Haze & Alexa Thatcher vs. Sara Del Rey & Allison Danger
This was a waste of time. It was fine for the first two minutes until Lacey came out and fought Daizee Haze out to the back. Then it ended. I have a feeling that was because Alexa Thatcher was really green.
Winners: Sara Del Rey & Allison Danger
Four-Way Fray Elimination Match
Shingo vs. Jimmy Jacobs w/Lacey vs. Jack Evans vs. Xavier
This was a really fun match that should have been WAY longer. All the guys looked really good but Xavier was really impressive.
Winner: Jack Evans
Samoa Joe comes out to thank the New York crowd for making Ring of Honor successful. He calls Takeshi Morishima to the ring but Nigel McGuinness comes out and tells him that he doesn’t get to call Morishima out; Morishima calls him out. They fight and officials break them up.
Tables are Legal
Brent Albright vs. BJ Whitmer
The table spots in this match were pretty good but the rest was “meh”.
Winner: BJ Whitmer

For the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships
Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal (champions) w/Allison Danger
Fun fact: both of these teams came out to Marilyn Manson songs.
Sad fact: neither of these teams came out to Marilyn Manson’s ‘My Monkey’
This match really did nothing for me. I think Karl Anderson stole his look from Christopher Daniels here, except Anderson wore it better because he was in Japan.
Winners: Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal
After the match was over Davey Richards came out and distracted Austin Aries while Roderick Strong turned on him. They announced they were a group called the No Remorse Corps. Jack Evans came out and chased them off. Aries grabbed the mic and tells them he and Jack Evans will take them out any time. Evans tries to talk him down but Aries is mad.
Rebecca Bayless is with Homicide and Julius Stokes. He’s glad to be here tonight and he’s gonna party all night. And he’s not worried about Jimmy Rave.
The Briscoes vs. Colt Cabana & Nigel McGuinness
This was good enough. I know everyone involved has done better.
Winners: Colt Cabana & Nigel McGuinness
Afterwards Samoa Joe attacks Nigel McGuinness. Takeshi Morishima makes his way out.
Samoa Joe vs. Takeshi Morishima
This was probably the best match I’ve seen from Big Baby. It wasn’t so much what he did but what he absorbed. Joe was on a whole other level at this time. But even Big Baby seemed a lot more motivated than in anything else I've seen him in.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Recap of the best feuds or the last year: Nigel McGuinness and Jimmy Rave, Brian Danielson and KENTA, Homicide and Colt Cabana, RoH and CZW, Brian Danielson and Samoa Joe and a few others.
For the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Jimmy Rave vs. Homicide (champion) w/Julius Smokes
This was a good match but I just had a hard time buying Jimmy Rave as a top title contender. He just looks too much like Justin Beiber to be a world champion.
Winner: Homicide
Rebecca Bayless is on her way outside to ask fans how they liked the show but comes across Jack Evans laid-out backstage.

The only DVD extras were some hype videos.

This was a pretty good show. The crowd was crazy hot all night but the only matches I’d say that are essential viewing are the Four-Way Elimination match and the Samoa Joe verses Takeshi Morishima match. I’m sure that’s on one of Joes “Best of” DVDs. The womens match I think could have been very good too but it had the rug pulled out from under it after three minutes.
