Just watched (most of) this series, which goes into detail about the creation of various iconic toylines. Pretty interesting stuff, the episodes so far are about Star Wars, Barbie (didnt watch this one as I have no interest in that line), Masters of the Universe, and GI Joe. They've said it'll be an 8 part miniseries, so Im predicting the next 4 will be about Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Lego, and Cabbage Patch Kids.

I found out about this series when I herd someone in a youtube comment talking about how savage Mattel was/is. I descided to check it out on Christmas, and I loved each part. I don't really dig on Star Wars or He-Man, but I'm glad I watched them all.

Would video games be there too perhaps?

Really dug the four episodes available. The He-Man one in particular.
I hope there is a Transformers ep coming. The toy line has such an interesting history.
I don’t think they will do Lego. Because there is already a feature length documentary that came out recently.
Edit: was anyone else get distracted by that sculpture/sex doll thing in the background during a talking head bit in the Barbie episode?

According to IMDB, Hello Kitty, Transformers, and Star Trek are 3 of the additional 4 episodes. Transformers makes sense, and to a lesser extent, so does Hello Kitty, but Star Trek? There have always been Trek figures since the 60s, and while extremely popular, never really changed the toy world like the Star Wars figures did.

Watched the GI Joe episode last night. Loved it. Even though I knew a bunch, I still knew half the battle. (lol) Kind of amazing to think that ARAH was moreorless doomed to end when Hasbro bought Kenner in 1989 (and promptly most of the Joe design team was let go while others were reassigned to other brands) Sadly they glossed over several years toward the end, which would've made it a bit more interesting, or complete, I guess. But what they did cover was done very, very well. ....and remember, kids: if you're offered $50k plus royalties for something a company buys from you, take that deal - not the one with double the money and no royalties.

Also, did people notice in the Star Wars episode, when talking about how he couldn't find the right fabric for the Jawas, one of the mock ups they show is Ric Flair's robe?

Anyone know when the rest of the eps are coming? I really enjoyed all 4 despite never really being into any of the toys.

Watched the Star Wars and Barbie episodes earlier today. Star Wars was decent, but wasn't much in it I didn't already know. Barbie was great cause I knew almost nothing they revealed.

I watched He-Man because I love He-Man. How are the rest for someone who doesn’t give a damn about any of those other toys?

Maybe because Star Trek was the first McDonald's Happy Meal tie-in?

I watched He-Man because I love He-Man. How are the rest for someone who doesn’t give a damn about any of those other toys? Better. He-Man only had its five year run on top mostly covered, the others had multiple decades worth of stories to pull from. I thought the Barbie episode was most entertaining.

I enjoyed the 3 episodes I watched. No interest in Barbie. I loved the bickering about credit in the Masters of the Universe episode.
I'm not sure what the next 4 will be, but my guesses would be Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Real Ghostbusters, and My Little Pony.
