Meltzer: "Although there are rumors about Styles vs. Cena at Mania, I’m told that right now that is incorrect, and Cena is in a much bigger match than Styles. The only thing I was told is it will be clear within a few weeks what that match is. Bigger than a WWE title match seems to limit it to a non-regular or surprise guy and the only names I can come up with would be Undertaker, Batista, Goldberg or Hogan, and at Hogan’s age with his back problems, it would surprise me if he could get cleared even if the sponsors were okay with his returning. My guess is the top of the Mania card will be shot largely on the 25th anniversary Raw because that will be the show with the largest viewing audience of the year most likely.
Cena was not advertised as being on the Rumble show in an ad I saw, but it was probably an older ad since Lesnar and Balor in Demon gear were prominently featured. But the most up-to-date headliners listed for that show also doesn’t include Cena."
I’d be fine with that if it means Steph and HHH are written out of TV afterwards. I mean, the match would probably suck and it’s kind of a waste of Rousey and Cena...but the end would justify the means....
I will be at Mania, I say bring on Cena/Taker. I know Reigns is a hell of a worker, but I wonder if he knows how to do anything but a “work rate ‘ match? That is all he has ever done night in and night out for close to a decade. Obviously, Taker can’t do that, so their match shit the bed. But, Cena would know how to do some more theatrics, get more drama, do some old school pro wrestling shit, and him and Taker might be able to put something entertaining together.
This tag match sounds pretty random...Where are people even getting that idea?
A big singles match sounds more likely.
Besides, Cena was already in a throw-away, talent wasting mixed gender tag match at this last WrestleMania. Why do it again?
What match is bigger than a title match with AJ Styles?
There's not many choices so we're naming down the list of choices here. The match against The Authority fits that bill. There's literally less than a handful of matches that it could be.
I think if it was up to me at this point, I'd have BRAAAAAAAAAAUN kill Cena dead (I'd rather have him kill Brock dead, but that ain't happening) at Mania, let him go make movies until at least Summerslam.
