I don't think so. The joke with No Ma'am was always on Al for being a cretin. It was always meant ironically. Married... with Children was always a much more subversive show than people give it credit for. It helps that Amanda Bearse (Marcy D'Arcy) was one of the producers, which was progressive for the time due to her sexual orientation.

I would wear it in public, just letting you know, but if I were to cause an outcry on how misogynist that shirt presents itself, there is an alternative option. Yep,Jefferson wore that one at least once, under his NO MAAM shirt. I need to get my MWC complete series set back and re-watch the run. I saw that episode on christmas eve where Jefferson gets caught by Marcy and reveals the "YES MA'AM" shirt.

Why would you purposely want to "trigger" someone, anyway? That's my biggest takeaway from this thread. Can someone explain that to me? I think I can explain it in picture form:

Because the person who gets "triggered" automatically loses. If they no sell it they win.

Because the person who gets "triggered" automatically loses. If they no sell it they win. Maybe their situation as to why something might trigger them is more complex than one would assume. But my main point is; even if someone were angered or somehow put off by a satirical shirt from a long defunct sitcom, I wouldn't be proud of that- or ridicule them for misinterpreting its meaning.

Dignity, self respect and happiness? I'd argue if you're playing the "purposely annoy random strangers" game, you've lost at least the first 2 looooong ago.

One thing I don't understand about satire is how people are quick to blame the people who don't get it and not the people who ruined the joke in the first place(ie, the people who use satire unironically).

Fat woman trying on shoes after her exercise class: "All that jumping must have expanded my foot"
Al: "Then you must have fallen on your butt a time or two"
Woman: "How dare you say that to my face!"
Al: "Well, I'd say it behind your back but my car only has a half a tank of gas"
Needless to say, MWC wouldn't even be allowed on air in this overly sensitive day and age, so I sure as hell wouldn't wear a No Ma'am shirt out in public. Most people 30 or younger wouldn't get it

Sorry, I shouldn't be posting at 12am. I wasn't as clear as I wanted to be. I know the show still airs on TBS every weekday morning (I think between 5am and 6am). How many people are watching at that time? The point I was trying to make is a show like that would never get green lit today. Imagine MWC airing today on Fox on primetime. The poster above mentioned a woman wrote sponsors to stop advertising on the show back in 1989. I think it'd be worse today

Yeah, MWC is honestly very tame by the standards of what large audiences will accept in 2017. It would not be worse. Everyone: if any of us wore this shirt, I doubt you would get too many of the angry responses you're imagining. You make it sound as if mad women are going to come at you with torches and start tearing it off your body.
