I don't mean just the finish of the main event I mean the whole card. After rewatching this the card was a cluster with many big names left off originally. Sting vs Hogan (sting beats Hogan clean absolutely dominating the match) ddp vs savage (the final blowoff). Nash vs giant. Hall bagwell Norton Vincent insert another nwo member vs Luger and the Steiners & Harlem heat Hennig issues an open challenge since flair can't compete Bret Hart answers. Bischoff vs zybysko. Benoit vs saturn Guerrero defends the cruiserweight title in a gauntlet type match

I didn't mind the other matches just that the main event was beyond awful and actually created problems in the long term.
Don't know if it's true but recently on twitter Meltzer said that Hogan instructed Nick Patrick to do a normal three count during the Screwjob finish.

Aside from the main event the one thing that bugged me was that ddp maybe the number 2 face was a replacement in the is title match. They could have had him face savage in the final blow off match.

One thing that bothered me was that the match that was hyped up for a month between Benoit and Raven didn't happen, was Raven hurt that night?

For some reason I thought you put Reebok Starrcade 97 and I was surprised they were the sponsor
