Remember at the Royal Rumble when Cena and Orton did the 'only two left standing' spot that usually kicks off a feud for Wrestlemania, but the crowd gave no shits, so they tried it again about ten minutes later and they still gave no shits? What are some other times like that? Where the announcers swore that something amazing was happening only for the crowd to barely react?

That one time Roman won a "career defining" match and the crowd took a shit all over it. Granted that's not no selling, it's "BIZZARO WORLD" selling.
The crowd no-selling Brian Christopher was legendary. As is the video of the crowd going apeshit for Brian Christopher
My memory is horrible, did the crowd no-sell Batista pointing at the Mania sign after the famous Rumble? Or did they shit all over him. I really don't remember.
Or Kid Rock performing to dead silence.

When they were uniting the titles and Orton and Cena were holding theirs aloft before the big match and people wanted no part of it.

The crowd wasn't really interested when Lunchmoney Lewis unhinged his jaw and swallowed Pitbull whole.

It had to be when Alberto Del Rio won the biggest Rumble.
The crowd was going bananas at the prospect of Santino then they immediately went silent once it sunk in that Del Rio was winning.
In fact, this reminds me of the time Del Rio cashed in Money in the Bank on CM Punk and the crowds energy just being drained completely. Not sure what it is about the guy, but he is a mood killer.

Bret's return to WWE on the first RAW of 2010.
As a Bret fan, I was so, so excited, and wasted no time in tuning in to see one of my heroes finally move on from the past and come back home. And...the crowd in Dayton, Ohio, just kind of sounded lukewarm.
Imagine if this show had been in Toronto or Montreal.

I seem to recall Tinashe getting a rather lukewarm reaction. I heard she was supposed to be a huge get that would raise WWE's profile. That was not the case.

Worst time, worst place for a reunion. Batista just came off a failed return where he was clearly relegated to putting over younger guys, Orton had one of the worst title reigns in history losing non-stop, and Triple H lost in the opening match of WM. If none of these guys were able to take out Bryan nobody was going to buy them taking out three guys who were way more physically imposing than him.

This is one of the problems with the cities they go to now. In the Attitude Era, they ran TV in the NYC area so much, as well as Boston, Chicago, Philly, and traditional WWF crowds like Albany, New Haven, Worcester and more.
Crowds in Dayton, Corpus Christi, etc. kill things.

Point of that thread was, for all the flack WWE gets for being out-of-touch and only getting bands from early-2000s, they had the Wrestlemania involvement of someone coming off of a critically acclaimed SXSW performance who had relevance to the modern music industry. It was a good look.

You could copy/paste just about every Roman Reigns solo moment in here as either the crowd no selling it or giving the opposite reaction to what WWE wanted.

When they were uniting the titles and Orton and Cena were holding theirs aloft before the big match and people wanted no part of it. There's a moment before that segment where Steph & HHH are cutting a promo about how historic the upcoming match is, and the Seattle fans just start chanting "Daniel Bryan" endlessly.
