Double-edged.
Both the guy who could wrap 98% of the crowd around his finger and get them to jump off of a cliff for him, and the grumpy malcontent whose attitude grew nastier the longer he went without being treated like "the man", and ultimately ended up doing the very things he railed against because the experience was a somewhat bigger blow to his ego than one might have thought.
As far as today's roster makeup : While he may be responsible for Daniel Bryan, I'd say Bryan himself (Especially being backed by William Regal) is more responsible for all the guys who came after.
