So Sid bailed on another show, one that AIW had built around his appearance. They dealt with it in a pretty neat way!

This happened before at my "favorite" indy, back when we were allowed there and hadn't been publicly bashed on Facebook and all that. Sid no-showed, so they had Jay Lethal come out and imitate him.

Companies should know better not to book him. He has at least a 20 year history of no-showing appearances (my first autograph convention I went to was in 1998 and Sid was a no show). I wonder what the promoters who are successful in dealing with him do versus the ones that don't. I did meet him this last year and thought he was very soft spoken and humble so I wonder what his deal is with the no shows.

From what I gather about Sid is that he's a nice enough guy but also a few cards short of full deck. Like I don't think his gimmick of being Pscyho is really that much of a stretch of how he is in real life.

Reminds me of the story Prichard told of Vader trying to get out of coming to Canada. They told him to get his ass there after he made excuses. So he gets to customs “I don’t have my papers. I’ll just go home” the guy says “You’re Vader. I know who you are. You don’t need those papers”. “No. I do”. “No. It’s ok. You’re in”. Vader wasn’t happy.

I have no idea if Sid's excuse has some truth to it (invalid license), but AIW should not have released that phone call. Sid might have been unprofessional, but now we know AIW is unprofessional.

They lost over a grand on expenses pertaining to him being on the show, and their fan base got burned in the process. I don't blame them for letting everyone hear the excuses directly from the guy who no-showed, and took their money.

I don't blame them for letting everyone hear the excuses directly from the guy who no-showed, and took their money. Did the entire world buy a ticket to that show? No. They can explain it to their live show. They can ask Sid to cover the cost of the hotel and or return whatever money they may have given him. They can accept his apology and do a makeup show in the future and or have him on that guys podcast as the promoter suggested. Posting this conversation in no way helped the situation and was just an act of vengeance.

Basically, you can lie and say you booked Sid, and then bring out an impersonator without getting in trouble. Save money and cut out the middle man.
