It's not like ECW was work rate city tho You have Sid go in there and f*** shit up, talk shit to the fans and that's all you need Im bad with timelines but around that same period wouldn’t they have had Mike Awesome doing topes and letting himself get tossed around the ring by Tanaka? After that I don’t think the fans were going to pop for a power bomb with theatrics. All Sid would have had to do was call Awesome a bitch Jabroni and wallop him upside the head with a chair No matter what, Sid was always over

I don't think Sid would've tolerated Heyman not paying him on time or having a check bounce. Yeah, Sid wasn't the type of guy to take that lying down, either. I'm sure he would have pulled a Nailz on Heyman, but probably worse.

WCWs end would’ve been even sadder. He was one thing their crowds got to cheer for in the end. They were actually quite nuclear for him. Sid somehow gets over everywhere he goes. Terrible promo, terrible wrestler, over in all of the big three, more than once for the big two. And was insanely over throughout, doing just the power bomb, chokeslam and chair spots? Sid was in ECW in January-May of 1999. Awesome first wrestled for them in 1993, and did sporadically throughout the 90s. His championship push didn't begin until late '99, admittedly, but they had already seen Awesome. And bear in mind one of the most over wrestlers in ECW in the early days was 911, who would basically just chokeslam people, the same night that the Pitbulls, Benoit, Guerrero, Sabu, Foley would have wrestled.

The guy killed his career by wrestling a full match. He should've kept on chokeslaming people.

Sid last a single missed payment or injury. He then follows Vader to Japan.

Booking and ego were key here. Sid was not 911 and couldn’t be treated as such. Fans were going to expect more, and if you were Tajiri or Sabu would you be excited to go out there and have Sid no sell your offense for 10 minutes and then win with a power bomb? Can you imagine Heyman asking Sid to have a competitive match with Spike Dudley, or the fans reaction when he just got squashed? Sid was only ever going to work in ECW in extremely small doses. He was around as long as he needed to be.
