Right, Bischoff's heel run only really worked because they set him up not as hating one of the babyfaces, but as just being a sycophant to Triple H, so he'd give Trips all the chances to shine. I remember getting kind of interested in his character in late 2004 when they seemed to be shifting him into a tweener role, as he was fed up with Evolution and everybody else's BS, but instead they brought Cena over and tried to re-do Austin/McMahon but, as you guys say, without any of the factors that actually made Austin/McMahon work. It's a very lazy crutch they lean on way, way too often.

Yeah, I remember being interested too because it wasn't like Vince or anyone up top was going to come to Raw and tell Bischoff to knock it off considering the stuff the year before with Austin and not having a backbone. Heck, when that didn't work with Bishoff and Cena, they tried AGAIN with Vince and Cena and that made even LESS sense.

I mean, for all the incompetence they had with Bryan, the fact they wanted him as a star but not anywhere near their plans for the top title at the very least made sense because they didn't want to drive him from the company, just know his spot. That's enough motivation storyline wise for Bryan to, well, ruin them.

I honestly think Roman can't be saved. Any cool interesting aspect of his character was stripped away when they had him talking, smiling, and attempting to be this joking individual. At least Rollins and Ambrose more or less changed their look, attitude, while still maintaining interesting aspects that made them endearing to the fans.

They could've had Roman still be the silent badass, walking through the crowd, and destroying everyone. But they went the opposite route and now I feel the damage is too great to heal.

The fact that I barely recall the Bischoff/Cena stuff says a lot. I think it was mostly the way they wrote Bischoff out of the company though. Cena never, ever worked in that sort of storyline since it was obvious he was the golden boy from about 2005 on.

It's like they had a storyline with Reigns that they never did or something. As in HHH and the Authority tried to just destroy poor Ambrose but sort of left Reigns alone, so the notion is that he would join the Authority at some point. He was given various title shots and what not as well. The problem is that Reigns wasn't really around anything interesting on the show during this time. He was dicking around with Orton (who had lost all his heat by then, before turning face). It's like they wanted to keep him above anything gritty and violent, but in doing so they forgot to give fans a reason to care. Then WWE wondered why fans booed the guy when he was handed various chances by the very management they were being told to hate.

Not even booking Jose Lothario as his manager would get him cheered. He's a lost cause at this point.

If Vince puts into writing that if we accept Roman, he'll leave the company forever and never appear on WWE programming, no Hall of Fame, no WWE promoting XFL2, he's gone forever with zero mention of Vince ever again, then I'll do it.

The crowd popped big for his win last night. What does he even need to be saved from? He can wrestle, talk, and has the look. Roman is fine where he's at.
