That was their belief last time too. Didn’t happen. Pretty much. If anything, they’ll probably offer them the exact same deal considering a) they have been loyal(er than usual) these past 3 years and b) USA don’t want to lose them and WWE can go nowhere else

If the WWE moved to FS1, it would easily dwarf any other property they had in ratings. Of course, FS1’s availability doesn’t have the reach that USA does. If I had to guess, I think they wind up re-signing with NBC/USA.

It is weird.
Look at TBS and TNT, what shows are really killing It, besides NBA games? They should never gotten rid of WCW. Now compare that with the USA network.
I can understand people frustrated with WWE product, but it seems USA needs them more than the E does.

An fs1 deal would kill that wouldn"t it?

That was their belief last time too. Didn’t happen. To be fair WWE did get a major increase in rights fees, just not to the level Vince predicted. Think they got a 1.5x increase compared to the 2x Vince was publicly pushing for.

Plus I think that partnership died with one of the more recent controversies.

Not to say they’re damaged goods but they’d probably be a tonne less flexible about stuff like USA are.

Ohh it's def a stretch but just a suggestion to throw out there I think at the end of the day they will stay with USA as it's a working relationship for both sides

I have no idea why WWE's rights would go up at all given the ratings free fall Raw has had in the past 2-3 years. As far as TNT and TBS goes, WCW was canceled mainly because the company was hemorrhaging 60 million dollars a year and there's no amount of solid ratings that makes up for that. Of course if Time Warner/AOL had simply sold to Bischoff's Fusient group they wouldn't have had that eyesore on the bottom line. I think in Death of WCW it was noted that WCW programming had actually fallen behind TNT and TBS's network average rating, which made cancellation all the easier.

Do you really see Vince playing ball with the head of FX when he tells him to pick up the ratings or else they’ll be cancelled? It’d make the last night on Spike TV look like a mutual agreement.

I think in Death of WCW it was noted that WCW programming had actually fallen behind TNT and TBS's network average rating, which made cancellation all the easier. The simplest reason is that, whilst they have fallen, it’s the one thing that keeps USA relevant and in the Top 10 networks on a Monday. Every other show has fallen rapidly from where they started, Mr. Robot is only around because it makes them look like a worthy channel to pitch to (ala NBC with Community) and it’s not like WWE haven’t followed their commands to a T. WWE would be in trouble without USA but USA would be in a crisis if they didn’t have WWE’s core audience. TNT and TBS didn’t need WCW to survive, essentially.

Coach was behind the whole thing and there was something people were giving WWE grief over. Coach commented on it on Twitter and started getting heat. Coach then put an end to covering WWE (or had someone higher up tell him to).

Vince playing ball, nah not happening. Steph and HHH tho probably will In fairness, Vince will probably somehow be less of a headache to deal with than Dana White
