There is just something about a no-nonsense, face-smashing sulry Irishman than will never stop appealing to me in media, and I felt he played the part well as far as how you book a good veteran run in wrestling. He was never a top guy, but served as a great solid hand and midcarder to work with newer guys and remain a presence.

I think it was Bruce Prichard who said that Johnny Ace was dead set against Finlay returning and purposefully tried to sabotage him by putting him with Hornswoggle expecting Finlay to eventually get pissed and return to a behind the scenes role.

I always loved his debut too against Matt Hardy when the ref disqualified him for not breaking a 5 count. Finlay went “You’re gonna disqualify me for that? I’ll show you why you should disqualify me!” Then drags Matt to the steps and stomps his head into them
I just thought to myself “Damn this dude is badass”

I'd heard that too. Fit was badass enough to make it work. I mean, who among us doesn't want to see a dangerous thug throw a leprechaun under the ring?

Vader vs. Finlay in 2005. Missed opportunity.

Johnny L was garbage so I can see why as a performer he was threatened.

In OSW terms, he's definitely one of my boys. Dude has that great ability to make it feel like a real fight. Ignoring anything Swoggle related, I always loved watching him.
