Lets say in 2007, Benoit somehow got some sound advice and didn't go crazy, doing what he ultimately did in the end.
What would his career end being like?
As far as I know, he was still a major focal point in the company and ECW arguably was going to be created around him. He would still have his series of matches with CM Punk and then probably win another world title towards the end of his career.
I could probably see him lasting till 2011 until he calls it quits.
I see him being in the Hall of Fame shortly afterwards and working as a hand in NXT.
What do you guys think?

Unfortunately he was apparently supposed to die in 2008 due to an enlarged heart. Don't know if I believe that, but it looks like he was screwed either way.

Before he got drafted to ECW, there was rumours he was going to turn heel, move to Raw and feud with John Cena.
Maybe he would have done that in 2008. After that who knows. I don't think his body was in good shape, with all the steroids and his neck problems.
We might have had a tragedy regardless.

I could see him potentially going to TNA when his contract is up if he was tired of the travel... or just from the injuries.
I could also see the WWE never getting really serious with their drug policy and a lot more people probably die because of it.

He was in a bad, bad way physically and mentally by that point. If it didn’t end in this tragedy, it was bound to end in another. He was never going to quit, even if it killed him.

Assuming Benoit lives past 2011, the CM Punk Pipe Bomb promo(especially on Vince's fetish for Body Builders) might actually be more telling, for better or worse.

I doubt he ever recovers from being demoted from the 4 Horsemen.

Well I'm pleasantly surprised that the direction of this thread wasn't what I thought it was.
I think he was pretty close to done after that anyway.
I could see Eddie Guerrero lingering on longer in WWE than Benoit if he had lived. I see Eddie starring in some WWE films, being active at the performance center, etc.

He probably would've been dead within a year or two anyway.

State the world is in lately I miss when my biggest problem was being sad about Benoit.

Best case scenario, his body was screwed, so another 2-3 years in the ring putting over young talent before it totally gave out on him. Then retiring to be a road agent and going in the HOF.

I'll take this time to say what I've been wanting to for awhile on the topic.
I understand why people have blacklisted him from their wrestling viewings, I don't blame them.
However, I do hope, now, with the information that has come out of his autopsy and what we know about CTE, That people would understand how damaged Benoit's brain was on that night and before. He was clearly not firing on all cylinders.
It doesn't make what he did right or better but it does shed, perhaps, a bit of light on the 'why'.

True to a degree, With any athlete of a given sport they know there are risks but think it won't catch up to them. Brain injuries are even worse because their effects can be minimal at first but gradually deteriorate over time.

Brain was mush. Some sort of meltdown was inevitable.

Would have stuck around 2 more years and became a road agent
However, in saying that with all the punishment his brain took and all the shit he put into his body there's no telling when either of those things would have given out on him
