The whole thing about raw diets in general is pretty weird. I don't think I've ever seen an advocate that hasn't come across as loopy Part of the appeal involves sticking it to those egghead scientists who don't know anything & are clearly in the pocket of Big Chemical. Some people believe we can photosynthesize like plants & that we just have to train hard enough. Really, though, people like to put too much hope on pseudoscience & old wives tales instead of what actually works due to some tinfoil hat theories. I mean, filtration & pasteurization virtually saved millions of lives when they were first introduced. As scary as times may be now, go back 125 years when people still collected the dead nightly. I won't be surprised if, later this year, people start believing in miasmas again & refuse to wash their hands. We live in an age where conspiracy theorists aren't just those idiots ranting on a street corner or a city bus.

I genuinely think unwashed & unvaccinated conspiracy nuts with their unpasteurized milk and all-natural everything have a decent chance of starting it.

I was about to say something about my family having a well that we get all our water from that is unfiltered, but I have a feeling that's different from what is being discussed here.

When they said unfiltered, I thought it meant tap water and was confused for a second. That doesn't seem to be the case(I hope).

I hope this is for gardening & not for drinking. Yes, drinking. It's been around since my great-grandfather put the pipes in. (Granted, I'm pretty sure the pipes have also been replaced since then, but the water still remains.)

The next trend will be people drinking celebrities bottled urine.
Actually that doesn't sound so bad. How much is Amy Adams charging?

Part of my job is lobbying governments to clean public water supplies. I'm not sure if this is horrifying or great for my cause.

So you don't have a tap system? Yes. The well water goes through taps around the house. But no filters are attached to any of it.

I went to the Boundary Waters back in the 90's. Canoed, camped and fished for 2 weeks without hardly seeing another person or sign of modern life. We used iodine tabs and water filters on all our fresh water. One guy in the group decided that he was going to try some spring water, one time, straight up. He was dead 4 months later. Total liver failure from a bug he picked up doing that. You might like to try and pretend natural is always better, but nature doesn't really give a shit what you think. Nature is deadly. Stories like this are why I became an alcoholic
