Post by Can you afford to pay me, Gah on Jan 4, 2018 13:19:09 GMT -5
I'm sure I saw an interview where Paul said that while his demands were legit, he deliberately made demands to TNA that he knew they wouldn't match because he didn't actually want to go, like firing everyone over 40 except Kurt. He wanted that which wouldn't been that bad because most of the over 40s at the time wasn't doing anything worth while from match quality or adding anything to the show. He wanted to be younger, makes plenty of sense. I saw him wanting to build around AJ and Joe. He also wanted ownership of the company. The ship as long sailed and sunk at this point of him ever getting involved with the company. The talent isn't the same. The TV deals are not the same, He likely wants a lot of money to take on such a big role and I doubt they can offered him.

even if they could afford him, there's absolutely no way they could pay him more then he is making now to be Brock Lesnar's hype man

He seems like one of few guys allowed to run free with his promos in WWE. He's got a good deal.

Impact can't afford ships to sail. At best, they could try to paddle away on an abandoned rowboat with a broken oar.

The sad fact is, Heyman could have really done something great at that point, and solidified TNA as the #2 promotion in North America. Now, though, I don't know if he could really do very much. Hell, I think the only reason Callis/D'amore are taking this on is because each has a solid fallback gig in case this fails, as, I don't know if they can turn the "ship" around at this point. They would have to have a good solid year of mostly GREAT shows to even begin to repair the damage to that brand, and I'm not just saying shows with great matches, as, let's face it, in this current workrate obsessed wrestling/sports entertainment industry, just having great matches doesn't mean as much anymore. The shows themselves would have to be great overall (matches, storytelling, ect.), and I just don't see that happening within a year, especially when they're still bleeding talent from the previous regimes.
