Velveteen Dream is Patrick Clarke. I don't know how obnoxious he used to be but he IS still only a kid. Haven't really heard anything negative about him since this gimmick took off. So if it's the same guy he learned from his mistakes. As somebody mentioned earlier you're probably thinking of Lio Rush as the obnoxious one on social media. Although it's been blown out of proportion. He made an ill-advised joke about released talent and got eviscerated by the locker room. But I think it's time to let bygones be bygones. 'Velveteen Dream' started off as a Prince knock-off but he has since made the character into his own and has improved by leaps and bounds in 2017. His match with Alastair Black is a top-ten contender for WWE in 2017. It's easy to confuse the two though. They're both the same age, same hometown, trained by the same people, and they both came up in the same indie feds. And they both got plucked out of the indies and into NXT at an extremely young age. I do remember something about Clarke having an attitude that rubbed people the wrong way immediately after Tough Enough ended, but that all mostly seems to have died down by this point.

Possible spoiler: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}PWInsider is reporting that Candice LaRae is backstage and WWE has been trying to sign her for a while now. It's gonna happen, she is the underdog babyface that is so easy to get behind So was Bayley, look what happened with her.

That match is gonna need some bodies, but as their permanent main roster callup? I’m not sure yet. Gotta set up Iconic Duo vs Bellas at Mania. Iconic would murder those stiff plastic mannequins with ease.

Anyone else kinda hate how they use the same wrestlers 2 or 3 times per taping? I feel with a roster of 50+ people, they should rotate the roster and have each person get one segment within the three episodes taped. That way guys like Blake, Murphy, Iconic Duo, Sane, TM61, Sanity, etc. get to be on at least one show. In the lead-up to a takeover the emphasis definitely shifts toward shooting the angles for the show, and with a very short taping like this of just three weeks that wouldn't leave much wiggle room. Some of the people mentioned aren't even really TV-ready right now due to going back to the drawing board on gimmicks, and the roster might be 50+ but a whole slew of those are green-ass trainees still working on things. Kairi would have been nice to see, but that would have really only been keeping her warm at this point, and it's not super necessary. You can still utilize the rest of the roster in three episodes while shooting angles. Have Bayzler defeat Sane in the first episode while Ember defeats Iconic Duo in the second episode. Third episode could air a video package between the two while still giving the other three time on the show. Also drawing board or not, we have guys like Lio Rush with no obvious character jobbing on this show when they could have used an established jobber such as Murphy or Blake instead. AOP squashed two random jobbers in the third episode after already wrestling Street Profits the second episode. They could've replaced that with a Lorcan and Burch tag match against TM61. This way they continue to build new talent while also not overworking the wrestlers who need to be ready by Takeover for their own matches.

I'm surprised Black vs Cole isn't going to be set as a #1 Contender match for Takeover: NOLA

They're not having Kairi lose to built up Shayna when she could well be the next challenger for the belt. Which ties into a lot of the idea behind how NXT is booked; yes there's a lot of people, but there is only one hour a week and you need to be sparing about them if you want to fit in some matches the crowd will want to see (can't all be jobber matches in front of a paying audience) and angles within the limited time frame you have. Dropping someone off from TV until they're needed keeps them from spinning their wheels, and with a roster of their size they need it to keep everyone in a good place. And no it's actually pretty important that guys being repackaged like Blake and Murphy stay off of TV. You don't rebrand dudes you saw losing a month ago in their old character. These guys are working the Florida loop trying to retool and work on their characters, and that's an important part to this. I'm sure the two random jobbers who AOP didn't even really wrestle with because they jumped them before the bell were in fact performance center guys, and those are the ones who are supposed to be getting squashed. NXT is working with a "less is more" about their roster and giving people breaks to keep training or to just hold off until their time comes. They don't have the time to fit their whole roster in and they need to play smartly with what they do, because this whole thing caters a lot more to the kind of people who will pay attention to wins and losses.

Plus we're probably going to see a bunch of girls get called up later this year. Nikki Cross & the Iconic Duo will probably be called up post-WrestleMania either during WM weekend or in the brand shakeups; and Ember Moon by the end of the year between SummerSlam & Survivor Series. That leaves a pretty big hole in their women's division with only Kairi on the Face side & Shayna on the Heel side. Which is why I think it's imperative that they start building up the likes of Bianca Bel Air, Lacey Evans & Dakota Kai.
