AJ got heat for getting a tattoo of her championship win date. You damn right this company hates marks. Couldn't have been much considering she in my eyes is the longest reigning Divas Champion. Well, they wasted no time to give the longest reign to a much less talented person right after she left as if petty because she chose Punk over then

Honestly, Bayley got super over with the Florida NxT crowds, then that transitioned to tv because she was so over with the Full Sail crowd, so she was always over with the crowds when NXT travels because she was really over with Full Sail. BUT, the thing about Bayley- she gets over because she is a really good “indy” style worker. I don’t mean she is great at strong style, she is flippy, etc. But, she is great at playing to a live audience. She has a connection to the people therewatching here live, she gets the live crowd involved in her matches, etc. However, a good live crowd wrestler isn’t always a good tv wrestler. Basically, Bayley doesn’t seem as awesome watching her on Raw as she did when I would go watch her work in front of 100 people in Largo. She has more than enough Takeover matches in front of major crowds to invalidate that. Being booked as a credible championship calibre wrestler will make you look more awesome than being jobbed out to Alexa Bliss repeatedly. Every wrestler who is truly great gets over with the crowd first. That then translates to TV.

It doesn't matter how good you are if you're booked in a way that won't let you show your abilities, unfortunately. [Though I would point to her title win match against Charlotte and her #1 contender match with Sasha as examples of how invested crowds can get in her matches when she gets the chance.]

Unfortunately I knew this would happen.
Bayley should have been the female John Cena. She is closer to the female Roman Reigns.

(Yeah I also thought Nikki’s run of matches as champion were much better than AJ’s. But that’s me. I never thought AJ was anything special as an in ring talent)

Send her to NXT and keep here there. She can be the gatekeeper. All sides win.

I was at the NXT Takeover in London, so pretty far away from Florida, it was between her and American Alpha, another totally mishandled NXT act, as to the most over act on the card. Literally not a second wasn't spent chanting for Bayley and this was hardly and indy/flippy match, it was her gradually wearing down Nia Jax for 13 minutes. Give her decent storylines, use her strengths and talent will rise. She was a bit nervous in the ring early on in her main roster run, she got over it. She's not great at a live mic? Guess what, they could do pretapes. So many issues with promos could be changed with pretapes, give them a few takes to get it right in an environment that'll help them.

Nikki is much better than AJ was. You're out of your mind. I'm not sure in what aspects AJ was better? Maybe promos?

I think she said it was mix of her body being wrecked and wanting to spend time with her husband.

Ok, if we're just going to say "Well, they performed in front of a smark crowd, that doesn't judge how they'll do on the main roster" then we might as well scrap the entirety of NXT and go back to buying a crappy warehouse and bringing back FCW because we're just going to be putting weird parameters and excuses on not developing talent to work on the main roster.
Because if the process isn't there to get people used to crowds and get people to talk about talent before they go to the main roster and have them come out to the main roster to fill a role placed for them then, again, I have no idea what NXT's even for.
The key, for me, is the fact that it seemed like the long term plan was for people to be able to follow someone from NXT to the main roster, where they consistently make money from the people watching on the Network and transfer that to the main roster with more people watching on TV. That's what I always thought the plan was, thus you have them cut the kind of promos and book them in a way that would work for the main roster or you change the system to the NXT system in the main roster. So if we're going to debut people, not understand their characters that your company (again, not the indies, YOUR company) books and then when it goes wrong, blame them for failing after having to adapt to something they weren't used to...call Danny Davis, give money to OVW or call Booker T and send everyone to Houston.
