Damn, that sucks. My thoughts go out to Dick. That can't be easy for him.

RIP
He's been around so long I thought he was older than 86. He also turned guest spots into regular starring roles in Teen Angel and You Wish, two TGIF sitcoms.

Last Tuesday's The Middle episode just got awkward and sad.
EDIT: Never mind, he wasn't Big Mike, he played Frankie's dad.

I will always remember him as Luther from Coach. He was hilarious. He will be missed.

I remember him from a crapload of stuff when I was a kid. Between him and Leslie Nielson, the world is running low on Ric Flair stunt doubles.

Damn, and he was just talked about in that Rose Marie thread.
I'm worried for Dick now...

NO! Rest in Peace.
Luther was the star of Coach. He should have won at least one Emmy for his role on Coach.

Always liked Dick Van Dyke better, but The Dick Van Dyke Show was actually my favorite show as a kid. I remember Jerry guest starring a few times, and I'll definitely remember him as Luther from the little bit of Coach that I did watch. Always a damn funny guy.
I think I may go back and watch Coach, now.

The first thing I remember seeing him in was McLintock with John Wayne, in which he was quite memorable despite sharing the screen with the likes of Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, etc.
Growing up, it seemed like Coach was always on, so I watched a lot of it. He may not have officially been the star, but he was the star.
In recent years, I've gone back and watched his some of his appearances on The Dick Van Dyke Show, and I really wish the two had gotten their own show at some point.

Damn, and he was just talked about in that Rose Marie thread. I'm worried for Dick now... We need some of that anti-curse bubble wrap for him, and um, who else from TDVDS? Carl Reiner, right? Maybe surviving Mary Poppins cast members too?

Aw man. He used to own a theater and restaurant in my hometown growing up. I remember getting milkshakes there as a kid. Never watched much Coach, but I always thought was cool that someone famous was from there.

I thought Dick Van Dyke passed away a few years ago.
Anyway am I the only one who thought older Jerry Van Dyke was funnier than younger Dick Van Dyke?

I always liked Jerry better. Especially on Yes Dear. I've always thought that Yes, Dear was an underrated show. Yes, the creators did better shows later on like My Name is Earl and Raising Hope, but that show was funny at times. Plus, Jerry Van Dyke was hilarious as Mike O'Malley's character's dad.

It's legit one of my favorite sitcoms. With George Lopez and yes, Accordung to Jim.

Sad to hear this. Coach was always a favorite at our house, and he did a tour of Big Lot's stores when he was their spokesman back in the early 2000s. My Mom worked there and got to meet him, said he was really nice.
