For those who don't know what it is, Moviepass is a subscription service that lets you go to movie theaters as many times as you want throughout the month for $10 a month (or $90 for the yearly plan). The only restrictions are: So I tried out moviepass last night at my local AMC. I'm also a Stubbs member, and sweet jesus this feels like a hustle. I'm able to get rewards points for "purchasing" a ticket using my movie pass at the kiosk. Counting what I normally buy at concession this means I'll be getting a $5 credit for every three or so visits to the theater. Like legit, if you see yourself going to the theater at least twice a month, I'd say this is worth trying out. I'm not sure how long they're going to be able to run on this current pricing model, but it's definitely worth it for the current price.

Too bad it requires a smartphone (I don't have one) - at least it used to. I'd use that thing every day! Would finally give me a reason to see non-blockbusters in the theatre, movies that I just can't reason paying the full price for.

Sounds like Cineworld Unlimited, except that is £17 a month (And obviously only works at Cineworld)
- As many films as you want - first year you pay the excess on 3D movies, After a year 3D is free (Card covers basic ticket price) - Pay the excess on IMAX - 25% off food

Yep. My girl and I signed up last month and we must have seen 5 movies with it. I was surprised at how many theatres accepted it. Like you, I’m a Stubs member and was stoked to find out I was getting points with every ticket pickup. Hopefully they don’t crack down on that soon.

I subscribed back in August after they announced the price drop to $10 and after some initial hiccups its worked great. All you need to do is watch 2 movies in a month and you've taken advantage of the deal.
I also purchase items from the concession stand, where theaters really make their money.

seems like it could be a pretty nice deal... but I don't go to the movie enough to make it worthwhile.
That and I don't think my usual theater even has regular 2d showings anymore
they have 2d showings but they usually have some add on to it.

Wait...so you can get AMC Stubs points while having this? For real? I'm listening. Yep it worked for my last night. Now AMC from what I hear online can be hit or miss because depending on the city, their kiosk may not accept the movie pass, and you'd have to get it from guest services instead. At the present time all you do is monthly payment of $10 and when you should up to the theater, you use the movie pass card to "buy" your movie ticket. Only real restriction is your limited to just normal 2D showings. I'm sure eventually though the other shoe will drop and they'll either raise the price or introduce some type of membership tiering sytem.

Yeah, I was looking at Moviepass a bit ago and it seems like a good deal if you're a habitual moviegoer. I'm not especially interested as there's very few movies where I'm like "I need to see this in theaters now", but hey, good deal. If it offered a discount on concessions, I might be more willing. I get why they don't and all, but as a consumer, it'd be nice if they could.

I'm actually thinking about giving it a try soon, after looking into it. The only reason we don't see more movies in the theater is that it's cost prohibitive, plus theaters make my wife's anxiety go through the roof. If I can do two accounts and the second account could be used be either of my kids(can it?), it'd be perfect for some good father/son, father/daughter outings as well as going by myself from time to time. The other problem when I first heard about it was that I didn't know of any theaters closer than an hour or so from where we live, but I recently found out there's a theater in a small town not TOO far from us and was surprised when it popped up as being eligible for the program.

Huh, I'm kind of surprised Alamo Drafthouse is compatible. I may actually do this.

If I didn't have a baby, I'd have signed up the moment the price dropped and been at the movies every weekend at a minimum. I don't even keep my Stubs memebership up at this point, I go so rarely.
I would NEVER be that guy in the theater with a crying baby. EVER.

I was at the movies a few weeks ago, a young kid was seated to my left, he kept talking loudly with his mom, the mom didnt stop him they kept going on and on . After about 10 mins I politely asked the mom , could you not talk . She rudely said " OMG Im so sorry to interrupt your movie " then said to her son " you should be quite , this man has a problem with you " . They kept talking though, but now other people joined me in asking them to stop. They were finally kicked out , to a smalll applause . I get that there are kids at movies( even babies ) but the parents need to behave properly

How f***ing loud some movies are, and its 9pm and you've got your infant in tow? Ridiculous. Get a sitter, or stay home and stream something. There are some theaters that do baby friendly movies. It is earlier in the day, the volume isn't as deafeningly loud, and they actually even set up a changing table and stuff in the theater in the hall.

It is great, I just wish I had signed up after winter, because now I feel with the weather in the NE being shitty, I barely want to leave the house for a few hours to see anything. And there's some great stuff in theaters now. I just wish there was some way to watch more than one movie a day, though.
Eh, it paid for itself already with me being able to see The Last Jedi and Justice League (a movie I had no plan on paying to see in theaters).
