If this is true, why did he change it? Michael A. Fox sounds just as good. And also it a pun because chicks in the 80's thought he was foxy. Michael is from Canada and thought it sounded too much like "Michael Eh? Fox" for his liking. Also, apparently it's an homage to actor Michael J. I just assumed it was because it was already taken, like Michael Keaton (born Michael Douglas), though that is why he needed a middle initial in the first place.
