I question whether or not he could pull it off, but if he fails it is no worse than any other miserable day with Dolph Ziggler. I don't want to see Dolph lounge around in the ring looking disinterested Naito can pull it off and still make it look good but Ziggler nah |

Perhaps, but Dolph Ziggler was never a great name either. It always sounded to me like a bad porn star name, which, worked somewhat for Val Venis, but like Val, kind of doomed Nick/Dolph from the start with a mid card gimmick name (of course that was probably the point, as, let's face it, Nick/Dolph kind of over exceeded his initial planned career trajectory). Of course, at this point in the game, changing his name wouldn't really help him, as he's been Dolph for the better part of a decade. I seem to recall reading a rumor that his gimmick was essentially supposed to be having a huge dick, and getting people to look at his package. Hence the Dirk Diggler sounding name. I'm being 100% honest when I say I believe this rumor. |

It'd be like naming one of the divas a James Bond-ish sex pun name. Vageena A. Plenty, or something, but then not do anything at all with it. It just kind of doomed the guy to mid card status from the get go. It failed the "Name Test," as Jim Cornette would say. |

I personally think he didn't really OFFICIALLY relinquish the title, any more than Taker retired. In fact... I am suddenly thinking Ziggler is going to challenge The Undertaker at Mania.
