I remember thinking the first one wasn't too bad

I actually don't mind the first one. It's generic as it gets, and certainly not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it had a good cast and passes a couple of hours relatively inoffensively. Jolie was clearly into the role, Daniel Craig was pretty solid, Iain Glen was nice and hammy, and Chris Barrie was the perfect choice to play Lara's butler. If anything, he was underused, as Noah Taylor's character served absolutely no purpose and they could have merged the two characters.
But my word, the accents. Two Americans and a Scot playing it English, an Englishman playing an American, and none of them particularly good.

The first is an OK flick, nothing mind blowing but a decent rainy day flick.
The sequel however is abysmal

Yeah, this is a fun time waster. Nothing more.
Also on his website, since he’s still plugging that Stardust app (had to get that comment here since it’s in every NC thread. XD) that next week looks to be an editorial based off of GOOD Adam Sandler movies.

I saw this movie in theaters when it came out, would've been 10 at the time, and I hated it.

I hate to be THAT guy, but my main takeaway from the film is that Angelina Jolie in character as Lara Croft was one of the sexiest women in the history of humankind.

I recall not liking the movie when I first saw it in 2001, but I can't....really say that now. It looks a lot better than I remembered it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the new one.
Can't fault the casting of Alicia Vikander

I wouldn't mind seeing the new one. Can't fault the casting of Alicia Vikander it was this exact case i had with the casting of WONDER WOMAN ..... "she is 'too small' for the character" ..... but this would fit better as it's a younger lara also MENASOR GoL ..... yes angelina was a PERFECT choice! and there's the whole scale of the movies, the first one perfectly formed, but the second one really opens up the world!
