I don’t watch tv anymore really, but occasionally I’ll scrill through the TV Guide app and look at what a network is showing throughout the day.
I know it’s been this way awhile, but Spike for example is showing the three Jurassic Park movies in a row and then replaying them right afterwards-the rest of the time it’s like a marathon of Cops or Two and a half men
What are some other examples of programming that make you wonder how they stay in business?

Spike is being rebranded The Paramount Network and that may explain the recent lack of programming focus.

Roseanne has never not been on TV in some capacity in my lifetime. We get it for at least an hour a day on 4 channels Laff-Shows it for 4 hours Mon thru Fri Local channel-Shows it for an hour each morning. Nick at Nite/Tvland-Shows it a few hours each night it seems. LOGO shows it everyday for a few hours. Still it isn't as bad as Law&Order, which seems to air for 20 hours a day on 3 channels. I do wonder how channels like Bravo and TLC stay on the air. There can't be that many people watching their badly acted badly scripted "reality" shows.

It still amazes me that the “Arts & Entertainment network” started out as showing ballet, and opera, to what it is today. “The Learning Channel” went the same route eventually.

Spike is being rebranded The Paramount Network and that may explain the recent lack of programming focus. Its kind of odd that they only have four shows that are their own (Ink Master, Cops, Bar Rescue, & Lip Sync Battle), and rotate them two at a time. I'm going with MTV. Its, as I keep saying, nothing but Ridiculousness with a sprinkling of Teen Mom, Catfish, and the rare TRL. Cartoon Network is dangerously close, too.

I have no idea who MTV is even trying to cater to nowadays, it’s just really bad movies, and marathons of “Catfishing” and that terrible ripoff of Tosh.0. Then they have the music awards and play it up like it’s important.

They used to show Grounded For Life at like 5 when I was getting ready for work. Then they yanked it. No Megyn Price. No Lynsey Bartilson. No Uncle Eddie. No Tom Smykowski. I am still salty.

If I didn't already own every season of Grounded for Life on DVD I would be upset also. But Laff still shows Grace Under Fire,Empty Nest and Night Court.

Then they have the music awards and play it up like it’s important. From seeing how my friends' teenage kids are,MTV is airing what teens want to see. Ain't like when I was a teen and you would watch an hour of MTV hoping they played a video you wanted to see. Now you can just goto Youtube and see whatever video at anytime. Really MTV has been moving away from showing videos since I was in high school in the early 90s.

Does USA show anything at all besides Law & Order or NCIS before 6:00 PM? Because every time I turn to that channel during the morning/afternoon, it's one of those two shows.

The big issue is so many channels have lost their identity. Look at how much stuff History channel shows that isn't about History. Or how TLC went from the Learning Channel to being the midgets, fat people, whatever reality channel. Or hell look at Bravo. It used to show great TV shows and stuff dealing with the arts. Last time I looked it is nothing but D rate reality shows.Look at Sundance and IFC. Both used to be for indy film. Now Sundance is just another generic cable network that airs Law&Order. And IFC rarely shows any indy films. Or what about the former American Movie Classics. Now it is AMC,which I assume stands for Add More Commercials. They will take a film that is 1 hour 30 minutes, and add enough commercials that it airs in a 3 hour block. Followed by at least one repeat of the same film once it ends. Then to get 30 more seconds of ad time, they shrink and speed up the credits. I might be one of the few but I do read the credits to most films.
Once the networks realized that reality tv is cheap to make and the general public will watch it,it killed a lot of what made various channels good.
Currently I have Dish Network. With the biggest package. And outside of the Starz channels I watch 3 networks.
El Rey-Mostly for LU. But I will sometimes watch some of the horror or martial arts films they air. Laff-Shows piles of sitcoms I love and don't own. Epix Drive In-It sadly has over the past 2 years started showing more and more films that aren't in the "drive in" genre. But still no other movie channel airs Troma or Corman stuff.

Most of the NBC/Universal channels do that. Its bad enough I didn't care for the L&O franchise when it was on the air. And now it is on 10 channels all the time.

A primary reason I don't watch TV much anymore is because most reality shows make me want to strangle a unicorn.

Outside of My Little Pony, Discovery Family has NO first-run programming (the other animated shows they show are Transformers: Prime and Rescue Bots, Littlest Pet Shop, Chuck and Friends, and Pound Puppies, all of which have ended, and nighttime is just reruns of reality shows and home renovation shows aquired from other networks).

I dropped cable in 2013 and when I recently went back to a friend's house who had it, all I saw was sped up reruns and the occasional chopped up movie. There is no way cable is worth it.
