news.marvel.com/comics/82990/conan-returns-marvel/Starting in January 2019. From an MU continuity standpoint, this is kind of huge. Marvel built a ton of their ancient history backstory out of the Conan books and mythology, and have had to kind of skirt around it for years now.

Wasn't Shuma Gorath originally designed as a Conan villain? I'm pretty sure that Conan at least fought him before.

Is it too much to ask for a movie where Conan, Drax, Chewie and Godzilla save the Earth from Spacehippies?

Damn I was really enjoying the Dark Horse run. Mostly cause they at least tried to stay close to the REH stories. The old Marvel series,excluding Savage Sword,were decent but not nearly as good as Dark Horse's run.

The name was mentioned in one of REH's original Kull stories, but as an actual character, he debuted in Marvel Premiere, as a foe of Doctor Strange. Marvel wouldn't use him in their Conan books until the '90s.

I mean, I know the answer to this but thought I’d ask;
Would this mean that the recent Conan/Wonder Woman crossover is out of continuity? I mean, it probably always was but just more out of curiosity.

What does Dark Horse have left now? I got a feeling they will lose Aliens,Predator and Buffy soon. They have lost Conan. Is there any creator owned stuff from Dark Horse that sells well?

Wow this is pretty big. Conan has been a big part of Dark Horse publishing for over 15 years now. I’m now curious if Red Sonja at Dynamite is up for renewal. I’m sure, as they have Conan back, Marvel will want to go after her... What does Dark Horse have left now? I got a feeling they will lose Aliens,Predator and Buffy soon. They have lost Conan. Is there any creator owned stuff from Dark Horse that sells well? Mike Mignola’s Hellboy will probably very staunchly be a Dark Horse property forever. Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer seems like a newfound big deal but not sure if it’s a top seller for them. Given DHC’s history though I think they’ve more than proven to be a safe haven for creator own stuff so, at least, they’ll have a big supply of that...... but the movie/pop culture-related properties have probably been helping pay the big bills for years and, given recent events, could rock the boat if they amscray. Also I just noticed today that Buffy Season 11 was only 12 issues (previous season series were like 25-30) so I wonder if that’s winding down...

Looks like Dark Horse is getting ready for the glue factory. They've lost/could lose Star Wars, Alien, Predator, Buffy and Conan. They've lost footing with their book distributor since IDW took their place as #2 behind DC Comics there. There are issues with their translated manga and international rights contracts.
The marketplace is already in a bad spot, and the Mignola-verse and Lemire-verse cannot hold them afloat. Mignola's books are launching at 10,000 issues or less now. Hard to see them as a premiere publisher in 2020.

Does this mean Conan will get time ported to the modern day Marvel Universe and beat the shit out of all the dudes and nail all the chicks?

Speaking of Dark Horse,I really miss the format the first volume of Dark Horse Presents had.

I could be wrong but there’s a ROM series at IDW so that doesn’t make it very likely unless Marvel’ll do the leg work to get the toy rights to ROM from Hasbro.

Probably not. Hasbro seems pretty happy to have IDW doing all their comics.

Given Hasbro already makes the Marvel and Star Wars toys, it's been something of a given that they've be interested. I'm not thrilled with the idea, but given how closely tied they already are to Disney and its properties, it's also a case where I don't really know what all would change if they did get bought out. I suppose it's possible that Mattel would end up getting bought up by Warner Brothers in response, but I don't think the connection's as strong, even if Mattel handles DC's stuff.

Yeah, I used to think people were crazy with that but with Lucas working with Disney for years before, Fox working with Disney for a couple of projects years before and Hasbro doing things with Disney properties...it’s pretty much hiding in plain clothing with this stuff. I mean, the only thing that never happened from that is Disney only buying the Muppets and not the entirety of the Henson studio which still seems weird to me to this day considering.
