I will say that I have actually timed one of those commercials in the past. My stopwatch went up to 5 minutes when it ended.

In the arms of an angel... I often wonder if Sarah McLachlan regrets letting them use that song now, as one can't hear it without thinking of abused dogs or cats.

I hate those commercials. Much like a lot of people I have a soft spot for animals especially the abused and neglected ones. Whenever I see those commercials I usually change the channel because they depress me too much.

They also used Willie Nelson's Always on My Mind, and, more bizzarely, Roberta Flack's The First Time I Saw Your Face. They obviously didnt listen to the lyrics of that later one.

Sheer emotional abuse. They don't even stop on Christmas. I have to mute and pull up the DirecTV guide to minimize them.

I have this really stupid idea...check this out...
instead of buying the rights to use that song and hiring Sarah to be IN the ads...use THAT money to help the f***ing animals! Same damn thing with the starving 3rd world kids.
"Hi. I'm a celebrity...kinda...from when you were young. Look at me with this kid that weighs about 4 pounds soaking wet. She's 13 and has six kids already. But for the price of a cup of coffee a day, you can make sure that she and her grand kids are fed, clothed and have clean water to drink. If you need me, I'll be in my trailer."

It was a beautiful song by itself, but the commercial was overplayed enough where I don't want to hear it because, like you, I'll associate it with abused canines instead of what it was supposed to mean.

They are always hard to watch, especially worse, when your own pet has recently passed.

In the arms of an angel... I often wonder if Sarah McLachlan regrets letting them use that song now, as one can't hear it without thinking of abused dogs or cats. Seeing as she is huge into animal rights, I would say no. Also at least it isn't Britain's SPCA that did this.

I've grown numb to such things. Abused animals. Adorable children with physical complications. It's all meaningless the 800th time you've seen it.
I know the end result is a good thing, but I just don't go in for hammy emotional manipulation. I'm funny like that.

If I am home and my TV is on usually it is on Laff. Every commercial break it is those ASPCA commercials and the ones for St Judes. Both great causes....but holy hell I don't need to see the same 2 ads 10 times in an hour.

I remember watching Raw and Smackdown repeats on Mun2 (Now known as NBC Universo) and there would be ads of the ASPCA. I even thought to myself, "I don't want to feel depressed while watching wrestling!"
By the way, I know that these commercials are so sad and depressing, but does it also annoy you with the length of these commercials? I know that there are two minute ads, but some of them go up to five minutes.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has a tough time with those commercials. And then I feel guilty for having a tough time because...look at what those poor animals are going through.
