Army of Darkness I don’t care what Sam and Bruce think, the S-Mart ending is a lot better than the slept to long ending. Not only that, but they took what may be the most iconic line in that movie: "Good...bad...I'm the guy with the gun..." and turned it into the painfully lame as hell "I'm not that good."

I don't know if it was released in theatres but I thought the standard cut of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was way better than the extended version.

I know Advent Children was a sequel, but was there ever a movie adaptation of the original Final Fantasy VII story? I loved the story and the world of Final Fantasy VII, But don’t play videogames much anymore and don’t really want to spend 80 hours playing through the game.

I saw a longer cut of Mallrats that was terrible compared to the regular version. I have watched that version and it's clear that the theatrical cut is the much better version. Although I did like how certain sequences were added in, like how Trish met LaFours.

No sir there never has been I’m sure someone somewhere has made a video of all the cutscenes and put it on YouTube but even that would clock in at five hours

The watchmen theatrical, cut,is certainly, better than the ultimate cut with the cartoon intertwined. Butthe directors cut is the best. I read that the director's cut has more sequences from the comics in it. It's only the ultimate cut that has the pirate comic bits in it.

Directors best imo, but if I have to pick from theatrical or ultimate. Theatrical every time.

It is I've not seen/Own "Ultimate Cut" as I own "Tales Of The Black Freighter" as a separate release.

I loved the directors and theatrical cuts, but couldn't get into the ultimate. Never liked the freighter ever.

It's interesting because I absolutely agree that Final Fantasy VII would make an amazing live action film. A long time ago I actually wrote a script for VII, wrote down my dream cast, and the story broken into three films with the first two ending with cliffhangers obviously. Although in reality I think VII works best in its current format and that's why it still retains all of its charm, magic, and emotion.

Terminator 2 theatrical cut is perfection perfected perfectly.
Extended cut, whereas interesting, is just off slightly.

There is nothing worse than dreaming about someone you miss.

This is off topic but kind of the same thing, at least in spirit. When I started watching the Simpsons, to an obsessive level, I had the syndicated versions. So it was edited. I taped them and watched them over and over and over. Eventually I got the DVDs which put the cut scenes back in, but it made the episodes feel off to me.
Knowing the DVD is the original version and “correct” but it changed the pacing to me when watching.
Anyone else experience this kind of thing? Where small changes seem jarring?

I have experienced this. I remember taping a lot of episodes from a local channel back in the day and then years later when I watched the full versions of the episodes on DVD, I was like, "I don't remember this" in some episodes, but in others, I was like, "Why was this taken out?" as I had remembered that some episodes had extra parts.
