The artist formerly known as Goldust character really had a lot going for it. He had a really good look that absolutely stood out. The bright colored wigs and facepaint. The really outlandish costumes like the gimp ball in mouth, spikes, g strings, wheelchair, leash...great chemistry with Luna and some really over the top promos. It was shock tv that attitude era was all about. It didn't really lead to any main event pushes but I really feel like it was a very solid character. A lot of real heel heat and a great vibrant look. I would like to see him kind of bring the look back for a nostalgia show. Thoughts?

....Nah. He was out of shape, and it showed, having pretty terrible matches, and doing a lot of....both borderline and ACTUALLY offensive stuff(this was the period he did blackface against Flash Funk, yeah?), and yeah, I get that it was a different era, but it's no fun to look back on. It was Marilyn Manson's whole "Look how shocking I can be" gimmick, only without any actual substance.

Nah, the only thing I enjoyed about TAFKAG was the initial breakup video with Terri that started the character change in the first place. That was the only really gritty and shocking thing I saw that reflected a changing era. The rest of the stuff is really difficult to watch in retrospect.

Nope. Going through that Goldust era on the Network recently. My roommate walked by as I was watching, and TAFKAG was in bondage gear, reciting "Green Eggs and Ham", with an exaggerated Southern accent and an exaggerated lisp. This was all he did on that PPV. Hard to explain that one, even with context.
I LOVE 1995-1996, Gold and White suited, heel Goldust.
Those J.R. interviews did Goldy zero favors.

I would argue that the interviews themselves were fine. It turned Goldust from a toothless "family man" babyface that was dull as dirt back into a provocative heel, which was his wheelhouse. Hell, even Luna as the manager was a great touch. Go as far from Marlena as possible, visually. Where they went wrong was turning into what they did, instead of just going back to peak Goldust.

It did give us this awesome moment Man, Luna probably got the worst of that. She should have wrapped her legs around Vader. Of course, she was also probably the toughest of the 3.

TAFKAG sucked. Awful gimmick.
Although I quite like the gimmick Goldust pretty much sucked completely into 2002. So his PPV matches were forgettable or worse. It was only in 2002 when he turned into a comedy character that he became great.

I liked his theme song but that's about it.

I loved Goldust, from the moment his vignettes hit I was just really digging Goldie.
But TAFKAG was some offensive Russo bullshit.

I will appreciate the bitchin’ remix of his already awesome theme music.
The matches from Royal Rumble 1998 and WrestleMania XIV are the only things from that era I’ve actually seen.

What? It was during this time that he wore a black face, twice, did a creepy segment reading green eggs and ham that was so rotten the tv companies apologized for it. He also wore a diaper.
This was when the Goldust character jumped the shark.
P.S He also pitched Vince to get boob implants, Vince legit thought about doing it but passed.

No as this was point where the whole Goldust gimmick started to get straight up embarrassing to watch.

I liked it. It was bizarre and Dustin Rhodes was great at pulling it off. The entire goldust character top to bottom might be the best represented gimmick Ever.
Not sure anybody existed who could comfortably and convincingly make that gimmick work as well as he did.

That interview with Terri and Dustin coming off the angle where she had to be Brian Pillman's manager was some of the best acting I could remember in wrestling

I dunno, man, from the looks of that, Luna's knees are going right into the small of Vader's back, which probably hurt like a bitch.
