And even if they were bothered...well, there’s not much they can do outside of partnering with a Canadian company they can “trust” to not do bookings like that and even even then, outside of WWE actually signing them full time, they’d probably rather them wrestle and WWE get publicity from it then not and everyone forget about them.

It’s still surreal that all those guys are genuine independent contractors. I don’t remember the last time we had those.

WWE doesn't have any control over these guys' bookings; they give them a list of no-no companies they can't work for and the title isn't actually defended outside of a few matches WWE gives their blessing for with promotions they explicitly have arrangements with. Everything else is fair game, so promoters can book whatever matches they like.
