The nostalgia thread got me thinking about this. When's the last time you got a huge surprise (the freaking out, shrieking in joy at the tv kind) from something in WWE?

Bray Wyatt winning the Elimination Chamber and becoming WWE Champion.
The Hardys returning at WM last year is right up there, too.

*Edit* - I just answered the question incorrectly, didn't I? In that case...Styles winning the WWE title from Jinder Mahal. The rest of my post is staying up here, as the point still stands. ...2014, when the Shield were together and Daniel Bryan was the most universally over active babyface since Stone Cold. (Dean Ambrose would come almost close to that level, until they made him look like a complete bag of garbage during the Wyatt feud.) I missed all of 2015 beginning a few weeks after WrestleMania...and all of 2016 except for WrestleMania 32, as I was there in person. So I can't comment on anything during that time. When I started watching regularly again in May...Nothing has come close to feeling that excitement for me. AJ winning the WWE title this past December comes really close. But that feeling of "can't miss, exciting televsion"? I haven't had that feeling since the rise of Daniel Bryan and the Shield in 2013/2014.

AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar, being booked evenly, and them booking AJ on Brock's level, and that Brock was lucky to win.

Something I saw live as it happened? Rather than checking it out because people here lost their mind? HBK super kicking Hogan. Jaw on the floor. Never saw it coming.

Anything crazy Strowman has done recently has made me yell with childish glee at my TV.

Orton joining The Wyatts was a surprise, and it worked out well. The Orton - Bray tag team and storyline was great up until Orton turned on Bray and became boring again.

I can't think of anything specific that's recent, but the most significant one was the whole Goldberg/Lesnar feud.

Not a storyline thing but the last time I actually blurted out a noise out of shock or something was the Rollins RKO at Wrestlemania.

Granted, I haven't been a regular, live watcher in a long time, but I think the last time I actually screamed with excitement because of wrestling was when Arn Anderson materialized out of the ether to give Undertaker that spinebuster at WM18.

Bray Wyatt winning the Elimination Chamber and becoming WWE Champion. Wyatt winning the title. It was like being a kid getting a shiny new bike for Christmas. Everything after his first week as champion was like watching someone take that bike and repeatedly run it over with a garbage truck

Seth Rollins, MITB cash in. He has been my guy for over a decade now, but to see him at the entrance and swinging the belt over his head. Good lord, I felt like I was as proud as his mom lol
