The year started out with Logan Paul posting a dead body on youtube and acting like an asshole while in Japan and now we have the whole Larry Nassar child molestation. Will 2018 get better or will the worst of human nature continue throughout the year?

On one hand, with artists and media, you sometimes instinctively want to give them the benefit of the doubt. On the other, it's defending Hitler. And then repeating/defending the comments. Twice. Using "Jew" as an insult. And then saying following that with saying Jews don't read. |

I don't think there's any more jerks in 2018 as there were in 1988, 98 or 2008. As social media grows and expands the jerks just become louder and easier to find.

FWIW, I wouldn't count the Nassar thing. He'd been doing it for a long time, 2018 was the year he answered for it (and good riddance).
I just feel like we live in an age where, no matter if it's serious or inconsequential, the loud/passionate way is the "right" way.
As for YouTube, people are gonna push the envelope and try to be more outrageous and extreme to find that edge, especially with the ad revenue bucks dropping. The alternative is to do the same old, and that only works for either people that know their audience and just need to make slight tweaks or people whose income and way of life isn't dependent on YouTube revenue...that or a Pateron, I guess.
Though you could argue Logan Paul was doing the same old himself. He's been rolling in it while being risque, for someone like that it was only a matter of time before he pushed it too far and enough people took notice (if you look into his videos, he's done some rather tasteless stuff in the past, this ended up being the one that made light of a serious problem and touched a nerve with too many people, myself included).
I mean, as social media rises and provides more anonimity to people looking to start shit, it's gonna be a problem.
