The Horsewomen, Bliss, Nia, Naomi, Asuks and to an extent Nattie and Carmella are kinda distinct, but it’s because they’re established. Dana Brooke, the Riott Squad, Tamina, etc no one really cares when they come out because it’s been established that they don’t matter.

If AJ Lee's music would have hit that crowd would have went NUTS... If AJ Lee came out and confronted Nikki Bella, the fans would probably be chanting "CM Punk!" and "John Cena Sucks". It'll be like we're back in 2011-12 all over again. Better than in 2014-2015 when they were getting "you suck Cena" and "you suck punk" chanted at them. Raw after Mania crowds are atrocious

literally everyone on the roster lacks iconic music...does Jim Johnston even work there anymore?

To that end, I feel like the 'iconic' nature of theme songs like Austin and Foley are less to do with the actual music behind them, both super generic guitar riffs that just play over and over again, and more that the performer behind them is iconic enough for a distinct and serviceable piece of music to stand for something more. That's pretty much what I feel. Being "iconic" is not about being a good piece of music, per se. Case in point - "Ode to Joy" is a masterpiece that has stood the test of time for centuries and will continue to do so for centuries more, but it's not HHH's iconic theme. Sasha's theme is a bland, autotuned mess, but if she continues to use it for another ten years, it'll be iconic. In about 95% of cases wrestler makes a theme iconic, not the theme itself.

The new crops of women have got some absolute cracking themes. Sasha, Becky, Charlotte, Naomi, Alexa, Carmella...all instantly recognisable within seconds.

Asuka's theme is absolutely iconic imo. It was when it had the distorted vocals. I can't stand the new version. Also Carmella's theme is a total rip off of fancy by Charlie xcx

the biggest problem is that they were mostly generic stock music... or music that was reused multiple times.

At least they have decent themes these days. How many 2000s women's themes were about either: looking hot, guys or generic stock music? www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyktVqKOTXoProbably the most glaring example.

Bayley's theme song suits her, but it sounds like Good Time by Owl City/Carly Rae Jepsen.
Asuka's is great.

I'd say over the past few years (say around 2013)...AJ, Nikki, Paige, Becky, Charlotte, Sasha, Nia and Asuka all have iconic themes. Actually I'd even say the women ratio-wise have a better track record than the men now.

Dana Brooke, the Riott Squad, Tamina, etc no one really cares when they come out because it’s been established that they don’t matter. It also doesn't help that like a lot of the male roster too much theme music sounds like something that could easily be a lowcards emo themesong circa 2005 or a post grunge-nu metal theme circa 2000.
