Give Married with Children an actual ending. Kelly gets married, as was the proposed ending, and the other characters fall into place: Al ends up buying the shoe store but it's barely breaking even, Bud gets a job there and turns into the next Al, and Peg continues being a couch potato but maybe Al and she finally have another kid (to tie up the storyline that Peg was pregnant but it turned out to be only a dream to explain Katey Segal's miscarriage) and she attempts to become a better mother. Steve ends up back with Marcy, Jefferson goes back to being a spy, etc. Things change but they still remain the same, since the characters are stuck in their drudgery. The one thing I would end with is footage of Al scoring his four touchdowns for Polk High. Modern Family ends with Ed O'Neil waking up back as Al, next to Peg. No we need to find out who the camera crew is!

Quantum Leap - Sam returns home.
Dinosaurs - The ending happens the same way except after Earl's line about Dinosaurs disappearing they fade out from the outside shot of the Sinclair house. We then cut to 1994 where an archeologist finds the frozen remains of the house and sees the Sinclair family frozen and preserved in ice. As he runs out to get his colleagues, the camera slowly zooms in on Earl whose eyes begin blinking and moving around. Cut to black.

Seinfeld. When Jerry and company end up in prison, they end up sharing a cell with Kenny Bania, who in this version doesn't attend the trial. Bania keeps telling Jerry that the prison food at the jail is the best and bounces bad jokes off him.

Match Game, the Gene Rayburn version, should have had an epic finale. Sad that the Ross Shafer version was the only incarnation to acknowledge their finish on air.
Needless to say, Betty White should have been on the last Password Plus episode in 1982.

Quantum Leap - Sam returns home. I'd be fine with him not getting home if it was made clear it was his choice rather than just being resigned to his fate. Like maybe he decides to keep helping people, or he sacrifices himself to save the universe, or he's granted the ability to leap anywhere in time and space and his scientific curiosity couldn't pass it up.

Everybody Loves Raymond - Ray realises that the entire series has been nothing but a "Last Temptation of Christ"-like hallucination. In reality he is still living 10 years earlier before he even asked the awful Debra to marry him. He realises that he's doomed to spend the rest of his life with an obnoxious and abusive wife and decides to break up with her, thus sparing himself the misery.

My Name is Earl.
Earl Jr.'s real father is a Hollywood actor who Joy can't remember, "He's from that movie with the explosions?" so Earl goes to Hollywood and ends up bumping into Carson Daly and thanking him for explaining karma to him. Daly is so touched by the story, he invites Earl onto his show. Earl makes reference to his search and shows a picture of Joy while on-air.
Turns out the father is Carl Weathers, "Earl Jr's daddy is Action Jackson?!" Weathers is ashamed for skipping out after a one night stand, "I thought I used a condom." "Yeah, it probably fell on a needle a couple times." He immediately agrees to fund college for all the kids as long as a scandal isn't made of it.
With that, Earl gets ready to leave, seeing people helping others to complete lists of their own, his interview inspiring them to make changes in themselves. This is enough for Earl to take a break and decide to spend time with his quote-unquote family and try and be a good not father but father relation thing.
Crabman adopts Earl Jr as his son anyway.
They all live one big happy family.
Not perfect, but it's better than TO BE CONTINUED.

How I Met Your Mother: After Older Ted finishes his story, Older Tracy enters the room, says something like "Your dad telling you one of his long-winded stories again?" and the four walk off to go eat dinner, go out, or really something that doesn't end with Ted making yet another move for Robin.

I hate that finale so bad that I cannot watch any episode of the series. It ruined it completly for me. HIMYM was the worst example of how writers fall in love with their own headcanon even though they are in charge of the universe. Like, the whole point of the series was how Ted met Tracy, and how Tracy was the best person for him, but the writers were so hellbent on making Ted & Robin official from all the way back in the first season they tossed a somewhat somber but at least fulfilling ending (Ted misses Tracy but he still has his children and was finally able to remember the happy times) out for an incredibly weak ending where Barney went back to his lady (Or, bimbo) killing ways just so they could get the two to hook up.

HIMYM's the one case where I've witnessed a relatively throwaway/DVD extra alternate ending immediately become canon among its audience. I'd rework the ending to RTD's/10th Doctor's era of Doctor Who. It really undermined the initial credibility of 11 that 10 had spent much of his closing chapter waffling about regeneration being a death, the new guy isn't him and generally feeling such a sorry sucker for his own circumstances that you never really felt allowed to share in the loss of 10. Had he felt he was gonna legit die and then realized he might not, it somewhat robbed the audience of a bittersweet moment. Did like Moffat's retcon of the "don't wanna go" situation (and still the last words 10 says) into a factoid about Trenzalore.

Dexter: end it after season 5, but have La Guerta somehow get killed. Seriously end it after season 2. They blew their load way too quick with that season. Admittedly I gave up shortly after the assistant DA storyline in I think season 3. That storyline was just way too stupid for me. They could have made season 3 something else and perhaps that be the end of it so you wrap everything up and get Dexter’s reveal. I’ve heard there were other bits in the series that were good/great and I gave up too early. However there are too many great series out there that I still need to watch that aren’t knowing for having long stretches of sucking ass.

For me I'd have Breaking Bad end with Walt fully living as Heisenberg and continuing his meth empire. I just felt it would've been an amazing, intense, and epic ending if we saw Walt still battling cancer but wearing the hat, shades, and he walks up to a door of an unsuspecting individual knocks and walks away as two men approach afterwards with guns. 24 Season 8 I would've ended it with Jack accepting his fate and being arrested. As he's entering into a prison facility he happens to spot Tony in which they make amends. Breaking Bad, I'd have his family find out and leave him. He then buries himself in the empire, almost manically. The last shot echoes the scene where he finds the money's gone. But instead, he's laying on a bed, just quietly laughing, happy, but then he coughs and blood comes out. Camera pulls back, just showing more and more of an empty room. He's lost everything, still gonna die of cancer so all the money and the empire mean nothing.
