So, it’s that time agin. Coverage here in the States is about to begin with preliminaries in curling and ski jumping. Figured I’d take shot, launch a thread and watch the fun with the rest of you around the world for the next 18 days.
Let the Games begin!

I've been quietly getting excited about the winter Olympics, breaks up the monotony of watching the same old sports all day at work and the BBC coverage is usually excellent. Cannot wait for the bobsleigh to begin.

if you aren't up on your feet dancing while the athletes come out you aren't doing it right!

NBC only cares about figure skating & the occasional hockey game.
The coverage is going to be awful.

This obsession with technology is kinda creepy. But I'm sure NBC cut, as they said they did cut stuff, probably everything else.

The first medals of the games have been awarded. In women's 7.5 km + 7.5 km Skiathalon, Charlotte Kalla of Sweden took the Gold, with Marti Bjorgen of Norway taking Silver and Krista Parmakoski of Finland getting the Bronze.

Men’s Ski Jumping on the Normal Hill is taking bloody forever because of wind gusts at the venue. Still working through 30 in round two.

One thing I don't like is when they cut to a picture-in-picture for another channel. I'm trying to watch snowboarding, if I wanted to watch figure skating I would already be watching NBC.

For the first time in Olympic history, an American medaled in men's luge. Chris Mazdzer got silver in a sport where our previous best finish was 4th.
Congratulations on making history, Chris!

Jaime Anderson can now do no worse than silver. Anna Gassar of Austria had a disastrous run to ensure that.
