I'd bet this dude was even waiting for Vince to announce just so he could c-block him with this.

I would not be surprised if Vince knew this was in the works and, because of his ego, thought "Dammit! If anyone is launching a new football league, it's gonna be me!" I just find it hilarious that this dude made a documentary on the XFL, figured he knew what not to do, and decided to take a crack at it.

Vince is screwed. Not only are they better-prepared for this, they'll have a 1-year head-start on the XFL.
Not sure about the idea to not have kickoffs, though, since that kinda screws over kickers that are looking for work, unless they're also having field goals.

The AAFL already has a major broadcast partner while the XFL will struggle on that front so things aren't looking good for Vince's moneypit.

I sounds like unless your going for the 3 points kick (If that is in there rules) that all there is because there no extra point kick, just two point coverts attempts. Most everything seems just what Vince was going to do but sooner and with more support and the most important thing major media outlet in CBS.

And one that can't really be discussed because of all the dancing around the political stuff Bixenspan (and especially the commenters) did.

Honestly, if there's no kickoffs or extra points, it might be cool if the league requires dropkicks for field goal attempts- which does eliminate the kicker position, but forces position players to do the FG attempts. Still moot, if they're trying to get rid of kickoffs outright for safety, the better move would be "no punting. Ever." Since players are fast enough now that a player is on the punt returner as soon as the ball hits, it's for the best- and four chances to move the ball would be better for offenses (as well as balls right on the place the ball stopped for turnover on downs.)

I agree about the punting, I feel there is more of a chance of injury in that then there is with a kick off. Would make it really challenging with field positioning if you can't make the 4th down conversion that the other team gets to start where ever you end up. You could end up with really good field position or really bad depending on where you at on the field.

Vince would be beyond stupid now not to just make the XFL a summer arena league

Considering we have just 10 months to the actual start of season, they have to announce teams by May so they can set up a draft or something.

Considering we have just 10 months to the actual start of season, they have to announce teams by May so they can set up a draft or something. This is my biggest worry about this league starting so soon. It does remind me too much like the XFL first run that had little time to draft, run a legit training camp, and get not only the team announced but staffed with coaches and ext. We saw how bad the games where in the XFL at the start because the lack of time to get each team to develop and sure by the end the quality improved. That is the only thing I thought Vince was doing right. If Vince at all this year announced the teams and started getting staff together they spent all of 2019 building staff and set a draft and training camp close to a normal NFL time frame of training camp to season, there is a much better chance that the product on the field would be better. This is a lot for a 10 month period to get all teams staffed with coaches, than draft teams, and get a good training camp in so the players can get used to these different rules for one since some are a big difference to what anybody that played the game non arena league. High School, College, and NFL have most of the same base in rules and now the whole feel placement, no kicking plays really, and stuff is things to adjust and as a coach coming up concepts to get 2 points is a new challenge for a coach that most are not use to doing it every scoring drive. At NFL level they only went for it in a must need points situation or take by surprise, now its every scoring drive.

Oh dear god, this feels weirdly meta now. I want to preface this by saying I am in no way, shape, or form trying to start or instigate any religious debate here or break any rules; Now, That name reminds me of the South Park episode where the United Atheist Alliance, Unified Atheist League and Allied Atheist Alliance were in a three-way world war simply over whose name was the best. I imagine in a years time if this trend continues we'll have: XFL (Extreme Football League) AAF (Alliance of American Football) AFL (Arena Football League) NFL (National Football League) UFA (United Football Alliance) AFA (American Football Association) UFA (United Football Association) UAAFL (United Alliance of American Football Leagues) and of course, all of Europe reminding us all that none of those are actually football.

Well, with arena/indoor football, we have a few leagues: AFL (Arena Football League) IFL (Indoor Football League) CIF (Champions Indoor Football) NAL (National Arena League) AAL (American Arena League) LFL (Legends Football League) And that's not including some of the little piss-ant leagues that are trying to promote themselves as professional.

There was a couple years ago a league that was suppose to start the United Football League but turned out to be a money scam. The so called league "owner" had an entry fee for any team and just took the money and ran from those who did so.
