This week's episode was about Spring Stampede 2000. In talking about Mike Awesome, Bischoff mentioned that he was the nephew of Hulk Hogan. Is this common knowledge? I was totally unaware of that. Yeah, Awesome was Horace’s cousin. Is it known how Hogan and Awesome were uncle and nephew if Awesome and Horace were cousins and not brothers? As far as I know, Horace's deceased father is Hogan's only sibling.

I just remember it being talked about way back then.

Yeah, Awesome was Horace’s cousin. Probably explains why Hogan was so willing to be put through tables by Awesome during the 2nd Russo era. It's funny that the only two people he really put over as somewhat of a threat to him during that era were family members.

As far as I know, Horace's deceased father is Hogan's only sibling. I remember in a shoot interview, Awesome believed that the incident between Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan at Bash at the Beach 2000 may have been one of the reasons as to why he was plagued by a string of unfavorable gimmicks, since he is a cousin of Horace Hogan, who also left WCW, Awesome suggested that Russo may have thought that he was just "too close of kin" to Hulk Hogan and decided to take it out on him.

The best part of their David Arquette discussion isn’t even fully about Arquette. It’s when they go into David’s toughness and passion, despite “not grilling hamburgers on the engine.” Then it eventually segues into a method Eric has for “going to the movies in your sleep.”
Conrad’s immediate reaction, OMG. I was dying.

Sorry for the huge bump, but..... today's topic was the first Smackdown and DJ Marshmello was brought up. Without saying very much, Eric buried him and said he was a pain in the a$$ to deal with. Anyone know the story (or who the F he is... LOL)?

For the first time in a long time Conrad gets HOT during this week's episode. There's two big arguments between him and Eric about Starrcade 99 AND ERIC HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SHOW!

Haven’t heard the second one yet but Conrad really let him off the hook about him killing the babyfaces. I like how Bischoff insists Bret should have changed the finish and it’s his fault he didn’t. As though Bret didn’t try and change a finish once and it didn’t work out so shit hot for him, which ironically is the finish Bischoff says he should have changed.

Just listened to it and tbh I hate the disturbing undertones/implication in the Bret match that maybe Bret got hurt from dropping his head on the floor not the kick. They also imply Bret had control if the crappy finish. First off all both happened it wasn't 1 or the other. Bret describes both in his book. Second Even if was just the headdrop its still Goldberg responsibility to keep Bret up anyway ! 3 Why would Bret have control when he clearly hates it in his book and Russo had control off all the other finishes but somehow not this 1 !! This feels very anti Bret to me Link here youtu.be/mZWajFTI1dw

Well to be fair to Bischoff, he may not remember what happened.

Bret described in his book that when applying the corner figure 4, the other guy had to hold on tight to his feet so Bret could lower himself gently and not smack his head on the concrete. He even mentions that at the height of their death-feud, HBK himself held on perfectly to make sure Bret didn't hurt himself.
GUESS WHAT BIG BILL DIDN'T DO??

Well to be fair to Bischoff, he may not remember what happened. He said he watched the match only a few hours previously before the podcast

They both dislike Bret, but Eric resisted Conrad’s attempts to create clickbait news articles by not stating Bret hurt himself. Eric states several times that if Bret says that’s where he got hurt, he’d go along with that because there’s no evidence to the contrary. Conrad then tried again after that fact to get Eric to say Bret hurt himself.
Which again, as pointed out, was Goldberg’s job to protect Bret when he dropped for the ring post figure 4.

If Bret would've been tan and in better shape, he would've been okay.

OK, they don't have a good clip of this on YouTube anymore to go check this, but I seem to remember Bret taking either a headbutt or smacking his head on the mat on the spear right after the kick, which probably compounded the problem.

Bret goes straight down on the kick, so the bump on the kick itself may not have been pretty.

Why does Conrad dislike Bret? Was Bret vocal about low quality matches with Ric Flair or something? Just wondering? I like Conrad and I love Bret.

His disdain is clear any time they cover him though. Conrad is a huge HBK mark and obviously the Flair connection, so I imagine that plays into it.

Given the heat Eric got for saying Bret made up the WCW contract offer (contradicted by a 1997 interview in which Eric says he did make the offer) I'm guessing even Eric is not stupid enough to say Bret hurt himself or faked his injury etc.

Bret is cool with Shawn now so I don't think it would be that. Isn't Conrad friends with Hogan too ?. Obviously he's not Brets greatest fan either.
