Zack Snyder continues to share some deeper meanings about Batman v Superman, this time revealing that Bruce Wayne uses sex as a drug.

Snyder explained on Vero (via Batman-News), that sex helps Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) forget about his pain for a short time. In a scene from the film, Bruce Wayne wakes up from a nightmare with a woman in his bed. A painting by Robert Mapplethorpe can be seen hanging above his bed while Bruce Wayne takes some painkillers.



According to Snyder, the artwork is meant to represent sex as a type of drug for the character. "Here's an easy one: The Mapplethorpe above his bed I chose to represent the erotic as a drug that Bruce uses sex to momentarily forget his pain," Snyder wrote.

It's still not known whether or not Affleck will continue to portray Batman in the DCEU. Recent reports suggest Affleck will appear in Flashpoint for his final performance as the Dark Knight, but he's unlikely to get his own solo film.

...uh-huh. and does he sleep with the women before or after he's done Batman-ing? seems like a lot of effort to patrol the streets every night, drive back to Wayne Manor House by Lake to change back into Bruce, then go back out an pick up a woman. and if he sleeps with them before he goes Batman-ing, 1) wouldn't they wonder where the hell he disappeared to all night, and 2) wouldn't having just scored kinda, you know, ease some of his angry tension?

just a guess, but i'm gonna go out on a limb and say Zack Synder didn't think things through when he made the movie

You know, in this universe Bruce has been Batman for a pretty long time, and from what little we've seen of Gotham it doesn't look anywhere near as bad as previous interpretations. Plus he probably has a Robin or two around to pick up the slack. It's possible he's reduced violent crime in the city down to some kind of manageable level and doesn't have to go out Batman-ing as regularly as he used to and with his free time goes out picking up random ladies for one night stands.

I mean, this doesn't change the fact that this whole idea is incredibly stupid, but it is explainable on some level. I guess.

Zack Synder should write himself into the DC Cinematic Universe as Zack Synder. Zack Snyder portraying Zack Synder in a movie would be symbolism of symbolism.
