Something I also noticed while going through the TV Tropes entries...with this season they seemed to drop the permanent crystal sheen the Crystal Ponies have had since the end of "The Crystal Empire - Part 2" while they are in the crystal empire.
In "Just For Sidekicks", "Games Ponies Play", "Equestria Games" and that small part in "Twilight's Kingdom Part 1", whenever a Crystal Pony was shown within the crystal empire, they had the crystal sheen. But from Season 6, they did not bother with that anymore.
Perhaps that effect was too much of a strain on the budget.
