I will say, as a Saudi, this recurring criticism of WWE for coming here is... a little odd. They've already been here twice. No one cared. What's different now except that the show is a little more high profile? The country is changing. From what I've read on Reddit, women will be allowed to attend this show. A female fan posted this excitedly when it was announced. I've not verified it myself. Women will be allowed to drive in two months. So... again, the criticism popping up now and not in 2014 or 2015 is weird. We can talk about the pace of change and the sincerity of it. But it does seem to be happening. I won't defend my country. I don't agree with a lot of its decisions. I don't actually care to defend them. My issue is that a lot of the backlash has an undercurrent, whether intended or not, of: 'all Saudis are backwards and awful and they don't deserve this; not a big event like this' and I deeply disagree with that. It makes me deeply uncomfortable because you're talking about me and people who could be my friends. I don't have a lot of other options for seeing my favorite wrestlers and I'm really glad they're coming here. I think it's weird that anyone cares where it is at all (in a negative sense). Most fans typically just have TV as a viewing option unless the show is in their home state anyway, so I'm not sure what this changes. I'm just excited to be getting a Royal Rumble with that many entrance countdowns.

Are the women wrestling?
If so how are they going to explain the body suits on commentary?

So.... is this an actual PPV or a glorified house show?
I'm fearing the "Reigns wins in front of a crowd that cheers him" narrative is true.

So.... is this an actual PPV or a glorified house show? At the moment more of the latter, but last month WWE signed a ten year "multi-platform" deal with the Saudi General Sports Authority as part of the government's socio-economic reform. One PPV per year hosted over there seems very likely, as does an influx of Saudi talent to the PC.

Im gonna just make a wild guess here & say that Sami Zayn is gonna win the rumble , being the only Arab person on the roster that would be high profile enough to win ( the other being Mojo )

Jinder lost to Triple H in India. I really think it's a case of whose more over, more than hometown heroes nowadays. Also, Sami is Syrian. Without getting too into it, I don't think his particular nationality is much of an upside in the current climate.

You mean jumping on a trampoline in their underwear, right? Oh and Rusev v Undertaker in casket match has been added. Is this event going to use all the gimmicks. Like that create a PPV I used to make in WWF No Mercy for N64?

Probably because their women’s revolution rhetoric is mainly a PR thing and since they’re a business money trumps all.

Dude just needs to last more than 2:45 and he’s ahead of Cena.

Hopefully its a success and encourages them to repeat it around the world for those of us who don't get the chance to see them live often and live in inconvenient timezones for the Stateside PPVs. I just hope they have a really knowledgeable local giving them advice on what to do. It doesn't appear to be a land where stamping on flags or insulting the host country for cheap heat would go down too well. Probably best to leave Jericho and JBL at home.

Oh and Rusev v Undertaker in casket match has been added. Wow, they're dragging Taker over there as well?! Seriously, how many zeros did they put on the end of the number they gave to Vince? ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

Such a shame, Rusev's going to die on Rusev Day.
