What athletes do you think made a bad play in a big game but through dumb luck end up being the hero. One that comes to mind for me is Enos Slaughter's mad dash in the 1946 World Series. If the Red Sox center fielder gets the ball into Pesky quicker Slaughter is out at home by a mile. Slaughter panicked and just got lucky.

Eli Manning in Super Bowl 42. 95 percent of the time he's sacked or picked, especially with Rodney Harrison there, he just threw it up.

I'm not entirely sure I'd call that a Homer because throwing it up WAS Eli's best option. Unless I'm forgetting something and there was open receivers past the 1st down marker. If he turns down a wide open dude for a blind heave... then I'd call it a Homer for sure. Here's my submission: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or82E31eReMMarcus chuck's a dead duck into a defender and it turns into a touchdown for himself.

"The Play", Cal-Stanford 1982.
There are about 7 Homers in that.
