1998, because the fun was seeing in what new way Austin would overcome Vince's machinations and leave him humiliated.

The early part of 1998 was a fascinating slow reveal where we found out the guy who'd been an uptight dork announcer for 20 years, and who'd been outed as the owner in the previous year, was actually more vile and pompous than any of his wrestlers. Nothing that came afterward for Vince was anywhere near as captivating. Absolutely, it was kind of fun watching him slowly unravel into a sadistic cackling madman. Of course those of us that had internet connections at the time and read the dirt sheets pretty much knew that heel Vince was not that far off from backstage real Vince. Though I'd have to say I think he gets a bit too much credit for the character considering it's not all that hard to play, and plus when you own the company nobody can do anything to your character. You can play it as often as you'd like for however long you'd like. I've enjoy some of evil Vince but there are also plenty of time I've grown tired of it and changed the channel The one thing that's always bothered me was his huge steroid body. I think it would've helped if he slimmed down and made himself look more vulnerable. When you think of the evil boss it's usually some fat guy or Harvey Wippleman type. The fact that Vince was so unnaturally big didn't do him any favors. It would be much more annoying watching a little pipsqueak boss get the better of his opponents through heelish tactics
