I always liked the cover for the original Megaman where he really looks like a 35 year-old man.

When I first got this game, I thought it was called Ninja AME (I pronounced it Ah-May) Gaiden. Had a good laugh at my younger self years later when I found out it was the kanji for Gaiden.

Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I never noticed before, but Mario dies on the cover... Really, the Black Box NES series of covers as a whole are all fantastic, IMO.

80's and 90's Western boxart was wild as f***, man. Mega Man 2's was almost as good as the first game.

I've always hated this one for the ugly ass way the logo is just slapped on there.

Somewhere, there is a former employee of Jemco who knows the story of that Phalanx cover, and I hope that someday they speak out.

Somewhere, there is a former employee of Jemco who knows the story of that Phalanx cover, and I hope that someday they speak out. The story is that they knew they had an average shoot-em-up game and wanted to make it stand out on the shelves amongst all the other shoot-em-up games so they put the hillbilly on the cover to get people's attention. That's it. And no, the hillbilly has nothing to do with the game.
