We have genuinely better heroes in pro wrestling now - men and women who do a shit-ton of charity work compared to the PR stuff the 80s old guard used to do, really, and who are much more careful about protecting their image using media of all types. There's also the element of experiencing the benefits of inclusion and diversity throughout society. The locker room these days is "woke af." Hogan, a 65-year-old Caucasian male, cannot relate to anyone in a WWE locker room today. The same kids in that locker room who'd loved him back in the day grew up, found other heroes during their journeys, and lived long enough to see others among their heroes die or become diminished by time or by revelations of their flaws. Hogan's high crimes and misdemeanors are by no means the worst on any list, but unlike those perps he's still around - trying to justify them and wondering why nobody wants to see him anymore. As long as we pay attention to him, we will continue to view him as poisonous. It may be best simply to ignore the dog-whistle that he and the media outlets covering his antics sound each time he opens his mouth on the record. He was just inducted into the Boys And Girls Club Hall Of Fame. And prior to John Cena, Hogan held the record for the most wishes granted. I would say that in his day, he went well beyond the call of duty.

Is this another worked shoot (or shoot work) of an apology from the Wrinkled Nutsack?

again it's not the term that is what makes what he said racist.
He shouldn't have used the N-word, but even if he didn't and used "African-American" and everything else was the same?
What he said was still racist as f***.
it's not about the words he used it's about what he actually said.

Seriously the people most upset about this are white people in my personal experience. My friends and I loved Hulkamania and know exactly what he said and the circumstances surrounding it. We have forgiven him and it's really not a big deal. In our experience white people are far more bothered by the term than we are! It's really odd to us! Listen, I'm not going to go too deep into this because it definitely starts bordering on forum etiquette rules in place...but just because you and your group of friends are okay with what he said and did, doesn't mean that the mainstream as a whole are, and that's not just including 'white people' but people of all races, creeds, and sexual orientations. Hell, read this thread alone to see that there are varying degrees of positive and negative reaction from members on this board who come from different backgrounds, each having a different level of scrutiny for his statements (it's a very broad spectrum after all). It's okay to not take issue with what he said and forgive him, that's on you and yours. It's not okay to use selective racism to dismiss people's thoughts who do take issue and do not choose to forgive him. If it's still hard to understand that people are taking issue, try looking at it from their perspective and gain some understanding where their stance is coming from. Better to be open-minded even with things you don't agree with than be close-minded and dismissive of things you 'find odd'.

What's with all of the "it's white people who care " posts?
I'm not offended on behalf of black people, i just cant stand bigotry.
The fact he essentially won hundreds of millions for being a bigot is gross.
The fact he called hurricane victims crybabies, because others have it worse and while he himself has never had a difficult situation he himself didn't make, is gross.
Racism betrays a hateful and ignorant mind, and while I'm no Stephen Hawking (r.i.p), I have no tolerance or patience for stupidity.

Honestly I've heard many more racist things said at my day job from minorities about white people, especially since Nashville has seen a rash of racially-motivated shootings recently and in general they were white gunmen targetting blacks.
To me what Hogan said in this blurb is being scrutinized wayyyy too much, the key words (that weren't quoted in the OP) were "I am forever sorry"-- still doesn't seem to matter to people ready to forever villainize Hogan for him being the victim of spying whilst he was in supposed privacy. Humans are allowed to act like humans when they believe the cameras are off them, even celebrities.

I have never in my life alone or in public in hours of sadness or drunk out of my mind said anything even close to demonizing an entire race.
That is not an excuse.

I have fully forgiven Hulk Hogan, and I am eager for him to return to his home in the WWE. I am a person of color and I understand white people often use the word just like we do. I am eager for Hulkamania to run wild again! You sound like a Russian bot lmao.

I might be wrong, but I find it interesting the people really upset by this seem to be for the most part white fans. I as a black person that considers themselves pretty aware, woke, whatever you wanna call it can not muster enough energy to care about it. Nah bruh, other black fans like myself ain’t rocking with Hogan at all.

At the end of the year there should be a "Hogan Returning?" thread montage. It’ll just be rapid shots of different locks. 🔒 Sadly, this thread may potentially make it to the rapid shots...

Hogan's treating this like he's a 4 year old who just randomly said "damn" or something. He doesn't get it.

Hogan's mentality comes across as "Don't you know who I am. I should not be punished for this."
