Disney are reportedly in negotiations with {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Hayden Christensen for the series. Given the timeline this is set, I don't know why they would need him. Flashbacks presumably.

Eh. Meh. Whatever. I had been hoping for some sort of cameo during the ST cause something cool could have been done with Kylo but WELP.
Guess it’d be sort of neat. Like all things SW I’m cautiously optimistic now.

Latest rumblings suggest Christensen is set for a series regular role, not just a cameo.

I’m down to see him play Anakin with a director who can actually direct actors. Seconded. He's never been a great actor, but he's nowhere near as bad as the prequels made him seem. As for how they could use him. I wouldn't mind a mix of flashbacks and stuff with him as Vader.

They could actually have him as Vader without his mask on sometimes with a lot of makeup to make him all burned up and starting to turn powder white for whatever reason. That way, they wouldn't need to get James Earl Jones to do the voice so much, since it doesn't sound quite right anymore.
Or can Vader not survive without the helmet?

Or can Vader not survive without the helmet? I figure if there were a large enough controlled environment similar to his meditation chamber he wouldn't need the helmet. Interestingly, Lucas gave clearance to a redeemed Anakin who could live without the full mask for Battlefront 4 before it was cancelled in the Disney purchase.

Luckily Hayden’s aged well.

My guess (and it's only a guess)is that Lucasfilm might use the Marvel trick of de-aging Hayden Christensen for flashbacks to the prequel era

I know it was the old canon but hadn’t Darth Vader not seen Obi Wan since their final duel on Mustafar?
I’m thinking flashbacks

I know it was the old canon but hadn’t Darth Vader not seen Obi Wan since their final duel on Mustafar? I’m thinking flashbacks In the old canon, yeah, Vader's last contact with Obi-Wan was on Mustafar. It's more ambiguous in the new canon, as it's not been directly addressed in any novels or comics, and A New Hope doesn't make it clear when they last met. Vader never finishes his musing about feeling Obi-Wan's presence on the Death Star, and his subsequent conversation with Tarkin about it doesn't shed any light either. Even his "When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master" line to Obi-Wan doesn't really help, since in Revenge of the Sith Anakin was no longer Obi-Wan's padawan. While flashbacks are more likely, I would not be surprised if there is some kind of confrontation where Vader and Obi-Wan meet that ends with Vader believing him dead, which would go some way to explain why Obi-Wan is able to hide for so long without the Empire looking for him.

Yeah, because I believe there is not a big influx of Dark side energy to mask a Jedi like Yoda was able to use on Dagobah to mask his presence. That was the old reason, I don't know whether that changed in current canon.

I'm hoping this show ends up being like 60% Clone Wars flashbacks and showing how they tie into the "current" era of the show.

This has been so on and off, I'll believe it's actually happening when I'm watching the first episode.

Holy shit, we will get to see him with hopefully well written dialogue helmed by a director who can direct.
