Mr. Terrific leads a team with Plastic Man, Metamorpho and Phantom Girl. Yeah, it was their if Marvel isn't going to make a Fantastic Four book we will... but then Marvel introduced the Fantastic Four coming back.

I side that Sideways has a Spider-Man look to his costume, but outside of that, he's a teen superhero.
He isn't like Spider-Man, unless people cant stop considering all teens are like Spider-Man was decades ago.
It's a good book, shame people can't look past things like that to try stuff.

This probably sounds really nitpicky, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint, they look really boring. Comparisons to pre-existing characters aside, the only ones that really stand out to me are the girl and a fire guy, and that's only because they're not dressed in the same dull blue and gray as all the others. Not sure if it was an accident that those were the two primary colors for the group or if they intentionally color-coded them to show they're a team (and if so, why is the girl dressed in green and gold?), but if they did they probably should have gone with colors that aren't so drab. Look at the Justice League at the top: each character has their own color scheme which helps all of them to stand out from each other. Even if I somehow had no idea who they were, I would still say that they were the most interesting looking group of the three in that picture.
Still, at least they're better looking than the Dark Knights Metal, all of whom look like they're trying to out-edgelord each other.

The only one that just from a visual glance that has me curious is that robot looking girl on the left. And that's only because I'm wondering why a robot needs a built-in baseball cap. I mean, I get why a robot needs boobs, that's just obvious, but why a baseball cap? To keep the sun out of her robo-eyes, of course.

Silencer isn't a robot It's body armor, The reason it looks bad is because John Romita Jr is a bad artist.
The art is the only issue I have with Silencer.

Just on a cursory glance, the characters might as well be 93 Image for as homage-y plus generic as they are.

Nepotism and being friends with guys like Brian Bendis and Joe Quesada are the only reasons Captain Chicken-scratch has a career. He's ALWAYS been awful, up there with Greg Land and Rob Liefeld. Actually I take that back, I think Rob Liefeld is a better artist.

There are sometimes I really like Romita Jr, and then there are sometimes I don't like the look of what he's drawn. Really just depends. I like him more than I don't though.
As much as his dad undoubtedly helped him though, I feel like his speed and reliability have kept him employed as much as anything else.

Yeah, they had a bunch of evil Batman's during Metal. Including two blatant rip offs of Judge Dredd character Batmen >_> Seriously Merciless and that laughs look really close to Judge Fear and Judge Death.

The story was decent for what it was as they got a lot of mileage out of evil Batman but obviously everyone knew who the Batman that laughs was going to be. Or I should say where he was going to originate from. Bonus points for making Damian creepy as f*** tho

It's the kind of thing we used to have to deal with once in a blue moon with things like the Squadron Sinister or Crime Syndicate, or even the original Infinity War mini somewhat. Now it's Dark Nights Metal, the Cancerverse beings from the Thanos Imperative, ten different Crime Syndicate takes, the Injustice series, Futures End, Marvel Zombies (though granted, most of the MZ invasions into the MU Proper were lower-key and went nowhere), even HydraCap almost sorta fits the trope. It's done, it's over with. It's bad enough we keep going back to the hero vs hero angle, adding in the hero vs evil version of hero is just getting stale.

That's why I said it was good for what it was
It's a lazy ass plot that people go to the well one too many times especially when you already have things like Injustice out there which already fits that niche

Yeah I checked a couple of them out. The Terrifics was... Ok. Silencer I've enjoyed and it's a shame that these new titles have failed to move the needle. The Terrifics I especially had high hopes for but it started off so meh that it was difficult to continue to justify spending too much more on it. And then between TERRIFICS #1 & 2 coming out, Marvel announced the return of the Fantastic Four (which in a way Terrifics was created to fill the void of?), and it seemed like the wind in those terrific sails went out. Which is unfortunate since I enjoy it. NEW CHALLENGERS is a nice idea, and of all the CotU revivals this one seems.....more inspired and apt to work better than others. The artist-first initiative was a nice idea (seeing those artists getting first credit and the writer not is nice), but yeah there's a derivative nature to all these books that seems rather unfortunate. I've never seen anything John Romita Jr. drew that I liked and I don't understand the hype. He's the Ted DiBiase Jr. of comics. Wow, that's......a heckuva comparison, considering JRJr's had a successful 30 year career, emerging working far beyond his father's shadow. I mean, I get what you're going for with the comparison but it's SO not the comparison at the same time.

It was 100% meant to be a well if Marvel aren't going to use the Fantastic Four we'll make our own... but the return of the first family should not have been terribly surprising Johnny and Thing were announced to team up around the same time as the Terrifics... and the only reason to do that would be to ultimately bring them all back.
