That's the McMahon genes for ya..
As for the abuse stuff, it's f***ing terrible and it's mainly why I give Vince a pass for some of his f***ed up ideas of good storylines (incest for example). From what he went through to where he is, he's done bloody amazing.

I get the feeling that when he said it was close, he may have more been saying that it was someone close to his mom. Either that, or a lack of animosity towards her now would mean he made peace with her in some respect, but I'm more inclined to think it's the former, obviously with limited information to go on, as there's only so much out there and it's not any of my business.

I always though Vince’s perspective was a bit askew. Turns out he got it from his mother.

Vince tweets Mothers Day to her and bought her pals a tennis court. The Playboy article implies his mum was the abuser but doesn't outright say it (and its not the only abuse he admits in the thing, there's a bit about an older stepbrother too) but I don't know. iirc his stepfather would beat up his mum and Vince regularly too. Apparently domestic violence is a trigger for him (mentioned by others in shoots too over the years) as he'd see his mum regularly beaten up from the age he was 6 right in front of him. He's also dsylexic and undergone horrific personal tragedy which we wont go into as its off the public record. Dude's been through a whole lot of shit in his life. This is why whenever people get angry or outraged at some of Vince's weirder, more messed-up booking, I just can't muster it in me to feel anything other than quite sorry for the guy. For Vince to have gone through that shit, and be where he is, I respect the hell out of him because I don't think anybody would come through that amount of tragedy and difficulty a perfect example of human behaviour. He's a fascinating, complex man and I only wish he would crank out his autobiographies like he was Jericho. Also as for tennis/tweets stuff, that doesn't really mean or discount anything. Even if we leave aside the well established phenomena of people empathising/siding with their abusers, she's still his mother, and from the sounds of his stepfather it's not like he had anyone else to gravitate to in his childhood. It can be hard to let shit like that go no matter what someone puts you through. I'm not saying his mom did it, just that the human mind is a complex and self-destructive thing especially when it comes to trauma. Whatever the case and whoever did it, I just hope he's handling it as well as possible now.

Aye, we know from the victim it happened, but not who did it outright, so none of us can say "x did it" or "X didn't do it", really. And yeah, Vince really did well to come back - even a quarter of that shit so young would be enough to screw someone up for life. Incidentally, Vince Sr comes across as, at the very least, a Ric Flair type asshole dad, abandoning his kids for the business. He might idolise his dad, but its very noticable he's tried to have his kids by his side as much as possible from early on.

*CM Punk phones Vince McMahon*: Hello Mr McMahon, this is your mother Mrs McMahon! I just phoned to say your are a bad son and I don't love you Victor.
Colt Cabana: Mrs. Askew is 122 years old, so try to sound more desiccated. And she doesn't call her son Mr. McMahon!

He might idolise his dad, but its very noticable he's tried to have his kids by his side as much as possible from early on. True enough. Another reason why, no matter how annoyed I might get with some of his decisions, I'll be really sad when he's gone.

Vince's father left him when he was born. He grew up in poverty in a trailer park where he was exposed to domestic violence when his stepfather beat him and his mother up. Vince's mother also sexually abused him. What a sad life poor guy.

He met Vince Sr when he was twelve, before that he was on the trailer park on North Carolina. He had a really f***ed up childhood based on what he said during the playboy interview. Vince's early life was some shit straight out of the hills have eyes, apparently the Festus character was based on a kid Vince grew up with.
